While transporting fugitive Newt Miller (RICK ZUMWALT) past the small town of Coleville, renegade cop and bounty hunter Reno Raines is stopped by Sheriff John Warren (BEN DAVIDSON) and his inexperienced deputy, Will Foster (JOHN ALLSOPP). They are tracking a pair of armed robbers, Gabe Wilson (DANIEL QUINN) and his brother, Marley (PAT SKIPPER), who were released from prison and are terrorizing Coleville, seeking their revenge against Warren for arresting them ten years ago. Suddenly, the brothers ambush the lawmen and Sheriff Warren is killed. When Foster awkwardly returns their gunfire, Reno frightens the brothers away with his own rapid-fire weapon. Reno and Foster return to Coleville with the sheriff's corpse and imprison Miller. Foster is taunted by Leon Jackson (CORBIN TIMBROOK), Warren's 32- year-old alcoholic nephew, who is jealous of Foster's job and blames Foster for the sheriff's death. Defending the inept deputy, Reno quickly knocks Jackson unconscious and Foster imprisons watch
