It's Election Day in Salem and the media is predicting Abe's going to win by a landslide. Lexie and Abe converge at the Brady Pub where they will wait to hear election results. At the DiMera mansion, Tony calls Stefano on what he "did" for Lexie, and while Stefano won't admit he did anything, he reminds Tony that he will always help his children even though they don't appreciate it. Tony strikes back saying if he was involved with the mayor's demise, it will cost Abe this election and his political career. Meanwhile at the pub, Lexie finally confesses to Abe that she thinks Stefano killed Marino because of her. Abe and Roman pay the old man a visit. Stefano doesn't admit anything, but informs Abe that he's glad he switched his support from Marino to Carver. At the pub, Lexie fears that her actions to help Abe could cost him the election. Abe returns and Lexie apologizes. Evan announces the results are in and Lexie asks Abe what he's going to do. Abe admits he doesn't know. Sadly, his campaign has been soiled by Stefano. It's announced that Abe is the new mayor of Salem and Stefano couldn't be more pleased. After leaving the hospital, Philip tracks down Daniel at the health club where he sees him working out with Chloe. Philip's angry and feels betrayed that Daniel isn't by Kate's side. Chloe lays into Philip making him understand that Daniel's human too, and that if he needs a break to give him the strength to help his mom, Philip has to understand that. Philip agrees and apologizes. Later, Daniel and Chloe connect and it appears that she and Daniel are kindred spirits. Chloe realizes she has a new friend in Daniel. Nick is keeping creepy tabs on Melanie. She comes downstairs after a day in bed to find him working on his project. They discuss the note and Nick reassures Melanie that her secret's safe with him. Later, he receives confirmation from the University that the letter he received is a legitimate approval. He hugs Melanie, telling her she's going to be rich, but all hopes come to a halt when Philip arrives and reveals Titan is behind the foundation. Philip is sorry to inform Nick that his alternative fuel project is never going to see the light of day.

Melanie continues to focus on the mysterious note she received, after she receives a call from a mysterious person. Sadly for Melanie, Bo and Hope continue to focus on her as their main suspect. Max talks to Bo and admits he's worried his sister may have killed Trent. Melanie only adds to their suspicion by trying to skip town. Bo doubts Melanie is going to want to leave, especially since Trent's attorney, Gregory, has arrived with his will. Max and Melanie go to the station where Trent's attorney reads Trent's will. He leaves Melanie everything, which is nothing (except the potential income from Nick's project) and an additional codicil is added for Max's benefit. Trent has left Max a box, but he refuses to open it or even take it with him. Melanie offers to share her future potential earnings with Max. Laughing, Max says thanks, but he's had it. The sooner he's over with this chapter of his life, the better. Melanie is affected by this statement as she thinks he means her too. Hope urges Max to try to repair his relationship with Stephanie. Max doesn't think he can. Meanwhile, Gregory informs Melanie he didn&t reveal everything to the detectives. Her father left an envelope to be opened in the event of his death. Melanie sweet talks Gregory into giving it to her and she starts to open it when Bo and Hope catch her with it. Kate tells her Lucas and Philip that she has lung cancer and she is going to begin chemo right away. Philip and Lucas are upset by this and Lucas is still upset Daniel is on her case. At the same time, Chelsea and Daniel talk about Kate. Chelsea admits she feels horrible for what she said to her grandma. Daniel thinks Kate will forgive her, but he wonders if Chelsea can forgive him and Kate. Chelsea tells him that she is trying and Daniel is impressed with her maturity. Alone, Chelsea recalls Kate looking after her when she was in the hospital. Chelsea gets an idea how to help her grandma and races off. Back at the Kiriakis estate, Kate asks Lucas to look after her business and Philip agrees to release Lucas from his duties at Titan. Daniel arrives to take her to the hospital and Lucas faces off with Daniel, who only has Kate's best interests in mind. Philip realizes letting her go into Daniel's care is the best thing he can do. At the hospital, chemo begins for Kate while Chelsea races in with a Saint Sofia medal that Victor gave her. Kate is brought to tears. Abe, Lexie, and Theo prepare for a photo shoot. Lexie worries about how Theo will react to the photographer and later the interview. After Evan handles an incident with Theo and a patron, we see Lexie more worried about her husband becoming the mayor and thrusting their family into the public eye. Abe tells Lexie he will not allow anyone to trash their family name.
