Question: From the moment Cyrus elected (pun intended) not to let anyone else in on the bomb threat to the final silliness of Olivia and Jake wending skyward on daddy's jet, the Scandal finale was all the usual over-the-top perfection Gladiators have come to love and expect from Shonda Rhimes when she's operating at the top of her "a little too much is not enough" game. Nice homage to the Keyser Söze reveal from The Usual Suspects at the end. Sorry Columbus Short got offed; perhaps if his character had been given a real reel life I'd miss him more, but that was one of the flaws in the mostly great/outlandish storytelling that truly bugged this fangirl. I know it was a rush from plot point to plot point, but I'm willing to accept the pregnancy as a legitimate excuse for the end-of-season, roller rink stop-and-go, punch in the face/gut action. And what a nice sendoff for Joe Morton! Now let's see how Rhimes gets Olivia back in the game. Who's she gonna play with now? This could be a signal that there are new players, yet to be named. And how in the expletive deleted are they (Ms. Rhimes and Ms. Pope) gonna top that?! — McKenzie

Scandal Postmortem: Are Olivia and Fitz Over for Good?

[Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Thursday's Scandal finale. Read at your own risk!]

Fitz finally got what he wanted  it just cost him the one thing he cares about most.

Thursday's Scandal season finale, aptly titled "The Price of Free and Fair Election," found Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) getting elected to president for his second term on his own — and with a little (OK, a lot of) help from the death of his son Jerry (Dylan Minnette), who was killed with a strain of bacterial meningitis. Naturally, Fitz assumed Maya Pope (Khandi Alexander) was behind the dastardly deed after her attempt to blow him up at the church failed.

Scandal's season finale was quite explosive — but it wasn't the bomb that was the most shocking moment.

The big bomb scare was actually quickly resolved in the opening moments of Thursday's episode, with Jake (Scott Foley) arriving at the Oval Office to tell Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) about the bomb at the church before it exploded, which allowed them to evacuate in time. Unfortunately... read more

Scandal: Who Won't Survive the Explosive Season Finale?

[Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Thursday night's episode of Scandal. Read at your own risk!]

Scandal plans to end its third season with a bang — literally.

After OPA dismantled B613 just as Maya Pope's (Khandi Alexander) assassination plot came together, POTUS & Co. are forced to work with the enemy during Thursday's episode, calling in former B613 command Rowan (Joe Morton) for help. Of course, Jake (Scott Foley) is pissed and tells Olivia (Kerry Washington) that she's making a big mistake. For once, he was... read more

Scandal: Jake Ballard Was Never Meant to Be a Hero

To say that Scandal fans are very vocal about the ABC political fixer drama would be an understatement. But those devoted Gladiators took things to a whole new level after Thursday's shocking episode, in which Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) brutally killed James Novak (Dan Bucatinsky) in order to protect the Republic.

Scandal's Jeff Perry: Cyrus can't let this death be in vain

Viewers were distraught that Jake had seemingly crossed a line by killing a character — and two other women — that they had come to care about. Even worse, this meant that fans' beloved Jake, who had become a love interest for Scandal's fearless leader Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), had gone to the dark side! Oh no!

But let's get something straight: read more
