Frasier and Roz prepare to spend a week broadcasting from Spokane, a new market for the show. Frasier is concerned when Roz reveals that she and Roger have broken up, yet doesn't want to talk about it. When Martin brings home a piece of mahogany from which he plans to make a coffee table, Niles remembers miserable times in childhood being forced to 'assist' his father with woodworking projects. Daphne admits that she enjoyed helping her own father with such projects and volunteers to help Martin. Frasier and Martin are greeted in Spokane by Herm, the station manager. To Frasier's surprise, all the reporters want to ask him about is how he feels about taking over the time slot of long-time local - and much loved -- radio personality Sully. Sully's entrance to say goodbye only makes the local reporters increasingly angry with Frasier. Frasier hopes that once he begins talking to callers, things will settle down, but the only calls he gets are people telling him to go back to Seattle. Frasier suggests they take some calls from Seattle so Spokane can hear him in action, but Herm reveals the transmitter isn't working properly and Seattle isn't receiving the show. Daphne proves to be much more adept at woodworking than Martin, and ends up taking over the project. Niles steps in to help, but finds that Daphne is as bossy as Martin when she's in the middle of woodworking. Frasier convinces Roz to call in with a problem and she ends up breaking down about losing Roger. Frasier comforts her and starts receiving calls complimenting him on his expertise and sympathetic tone.
