Katherine Kelly Lang and Thorsten Kaye
Will the next soap supercouple be Ridge and...Katie? On Dec. 13, the one and only Ridge Forrester returns to The Bold and the Beautiful after more than a year away in Paris. The superstar couturier — to be played by former All My Children star Thorsten Kaye — is determined to reclaim his soulmate and frequent wife Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), but he's in for a seismic shock! Exec producer-head writer Bradley Bell gave TV Guide Magazine the exclusive scoop. We also got the goods on Dollar Bill, Quinn, Rick, Caroline, Karen and more!
Joanna Johnson is seen — though not often enough — as late-blooming lesbian Karen Spencer on CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful. But her main claim to fame these days is as writer-executive producer of the new ABC Family drama The Fosters (premiering Monday at 9/8c). The series stars Teri Polo and Sherri Saum as lesbian parents Stef and Lena who preside over a multiethnic mix of kids, one biological, the others from the foster-care system. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Johnson — creator of the hit Kelly Ripa-Faith Ford sitcom Hope & Faith — to get the scoop on her newest primetime gig, where she's sharing exec-producing duties with the one and only Jennifer Lopez. And, of course, we had to find out if Johnson will ever come back to her much-missed storyline on B&B!

When suds superstar Ronn Moss abruptly quit his role as Ridge on The Bold and the Beautiful last month, the show's exec producer Bradley Bell admits he was taken aback. But he wasted no time regrouping. Not only will Bell recast Moss's role and already has several high-profile actors in mind, he also plans to move Ridge's heartthrobby half-brother Rick (Emmy winner Jacob Young) into full Ridge mode.
It seems like half a lifetime ago. And it was. Joanna Johnson was 25 when the CBS daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful debuted in 1987 and she quickly emerged as one of the show's brightest and most romantic stars, first as doomed heroine Caroline Spencer, then as her identical twin Karen.
Joanna Johnson, Crystal Chappell
Who saw this one coming? Certainly not us! Next month on CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful it will be revealed that Joanna Johnson's character Karen Spencer — known to viewers since 1991 — has been quietly living as a lesbian for years. What's more, Karen is happily married to a luscious lady named Danielle, to be played by Daytime Emmy winner Crystal Chappell. Johnson returns to the show May 16; Chappell arrives May 17. TV Guide Magazine got the exclusive deets on this wild development from exec producer-head writer Bradley Bell.
Linsey Godfrey, Joanna Johnson
Fan fave Joanna Johnson is returning to the role of Karen Spencer on CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful in March — and she's not coming alone!
Don Diamont, Joanna Johnson, Ronn Moss
She's back on The Bold and the Beautiful and not because she needs a paycheck! Longtime fan fave Joanna Johnson — now a writer and co-executive producer of ABC Family's Make It or Break It — returns to the CBS soap July 22 for a four-episode stint as Karen Spencer. The plot finds Katie (Heather Tom) renewing her vows with Karen's brother Bill (Don Diamont) — a seemingly happy but complicated situation considering Bill's wandering eye. TV Guide Magazine had a chat with Johnson, who was also the creator and exec producer of the Kelly Ripa-Faith Ford sitcom Hope & Faith. Does she miss acting? Ha! Don't bet on it.
