Lionel Chetwynd's film documents the horrific struggles that faced American POWs held in the North Vietnamese prison Hoa Lo — more infamously known as the Hanoi Hilton — between 1964 and 1975. Williamson (Michael Moriarty) leads a group of American servicemen who are prisoners at the detention camp. He assumes command after Cathcart (Lawrence Pressman) is dragged off to be tortured.

This is the tale of a lovely unicorn who sets out to look for any sign of another unicorn in the world. She embarks on a wondrous adventure, meeting colorful characters on the way. The journey is marked with peril also, as she is captured early on in her adventure, and put on exhibition in a carnival. An inept magician named Schmendrick, manages to free her an joins her on her quest. With her escort, she tries to find King Haggard's castle, where the evil Red Bull lives. With Schmendrick's help, he is finally able to conjure up enough real magic to help defeat the Red Bull, and discovering the whereabouts of many other unicorns, they are able to free them from a horrible fate in the sea.
