Daytime Emmy Awards: Michael Logan's Fearless Predictions

Gee, remember when the Daytime Emmys were presented before thousands of deliriously happy fans at Radio City Freakin' Music Hall in primetime during May sweeps and drew massive Nielsen ratings? Now they're on the Internet. Yep, the 41st Annual Daytime Emmys Awards — hosted by Kathy Griffin — will live stream on daytimeemmys.net on Sunday, June 22 (8 p.m./ET, 7 p.m./CT, 5 p.m./PT). What should we expect? Only two things are guaranteed: Griffin, working without censors, will shock the crap out of us (can't wait!) and most of my fearless predictions in the drama categories will, as usual, be laughably wrong. So, dear soap stars, don't be offended if I didn't pick you. It means there's a damn good chance you'll win! Here we go...read more

SPOILER ALERT! For many months now, fans of CBS's The Young and the Restless have been led to believe that villainous self-help guru Ian Ward is the biological father of war vet Dylan McAvoy. But...read more

Exclusive: Young and Restless Chief Jill Phelps on the Shocking Ian-Mariah Twist

In a wild one-two punch, CBS's The Young and the Restless has revealed that Fake Cassie, the scam artist played by Camryn Grimes, is in evil cahoots with Ian Ward, the creepy self-help guru played by Ray Wise. There's more! Fake Cassie, it turns out, is also Mariah, the much-discussed but never-seen ex-paramour of Tyler Michaelson (Redaric Williams). TV Guide Magazine spoke with executive producer Jill Farren Phelps to get the backstage dish on the two hot reveals and to find out where Mariah and Ian go from here. Is anyone safe?

TV Guide Magazine: Let's start with the nefarious Ian. Was it always the plan to connect him with Fake Cassie/Mariah?

Phelps: Not at all. Ray Wise was only supposed to be with us for a short story arc — 10 days — but we quickly realized what a gold mine he is. In order to keep him, it became necessary to connect Ian with someone else on the show, beyond Nikki and Dylan. Ray has been a wonderful fresh face in Genoa City. The second he hit the screen it was, "Jackpot!" We knew this immediately, of course, but his episodes hadn't aired yet. By the time we knew the audience was crazy about Ray, too, we'd already completed our original agreement with him.

Exclusive: Eric Braeden Sounds Off About the Writer Shake-up at The Young and the Restless

He didn't mean to throw the Twitterverse into a tizzy. Many fans of CBS's The Young and the Restless — at least the noisy ones on social media — were thrilled when news broke last week that controversial head writer Josh Griffith had exited the show. One fan on Twitter asked Y&R's alpha-dog star Eric Braeden (Victor) his opinion of Griffith's departure and Braeden tweeted back: "I'm very pissed off!!! Enough said!!!" That stunned a lot of folks who apparently assumed the Emmy-winning actor — currently on the back burner like a lot of other beloved Y&R vets — would be doing cartwheels at the prospect of a writer change. TV Guide Magazine sat down with Braeden to find out what he's really thinking — and get more out of him than 140 characters!

Exclusive: The Young and the Restless' Joshua Morrow Talks About Nick's Shocking Daddy Issues

He did whaat? Fans of CBS's The Young and the Restless just found out that good guy Nick Newman — played by longtime fan fave Joshua Morrow — is capable of heartless deceit. Yes, it seems our Nick has known for years that he might not be the biological father of his beloved teen daughter Summer (Hunter King), and he's kept that knowledge from the kid, her mother, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), and Jack (Peter Bergman), the other possible dad. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Morrow about this messy development. Has his character been trashed forever? Or is there a sly way out of this?

Steve Burton Explains His Return to TV, New Gig on The Young and the Restless

His fans are thrilled, except for the ones who are totally pissed. Emmy winner Steve Burton made big news — and crushed a lot of hearts — last fall when he left his role as General Hospital mob man Jason Morgan and moved to Nashville. So how come he's back in L.A. and working at The Young and the Restless a mere three months later? Burton hits the CBS soap Jan. 29 as war vet Dylan McAvoy, the supposedly-dead ex of Avery Clark (Jessica Collins).
