  • The Birthday Present | TV Show Recaps | 10/2/2008
Welcome back Dirty Sexy Moneyites The Darlings were back in full swing no villainous stone left unturned This ep started out where it ended A birthday for Nick on the Darlings yacht turns into a nightmare but not the one expected Paddy and Tripp have been reconciled Lisa is missing and then turns up looking stunning but only after a very meaningful glance between Karen and Nick Ellen is also missing and spoken of as alcoholically indisposed again And Tripp hands over the keys to the yacht to... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • I'm really enjoying Dirty ... | Matt Roush | 12/7/2007
Question: I'm really enjoying Dirty Sexy Money, but while I've always enjoyed Jill Clayburgh, I can't help thinking she's been miscast on the show. She plays her character as though she's been in a Valium-induced haze for the last 30-plus years, and I don't think that's the intention of the writers. I think someone like Susan Sullivan would've been much stronger and believable in the part. Your thoughts? Answer: I don't really agree, much as I adore Susan Sullivan, who no doubt would have... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Nutcracker” | TV Show Recaps | 12/6/2007
I’m not sure how many more eps of Dirty Sexy Money are in the can, but I am worried we are going to get stuck in the middle of a serious cliff hangar. I suspected when Tripp got on the phone and told the person on the line to find out what Simon wanted with the Darling’s financials, that it was Karen. But I wasn’t really sure until the last scene. So, if she’s getting busy with Simon for her Dad, then what are her reasons? Is it just to get Nick? Walking into the Nutcracker... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Watch” | TV Show Recaps | 11/29/2007
It’s all happening.Oh, how I hate to gloat, but way back in the second episode of Dirty Sexy Money, “The Lions”, I offered the following: Did we see a tiny glimmer of kindness from the bitter Brian when he sent the boy to bed? Perhaps he and Nick are half-brothers? Or could it be that Tish and Dutch had two children, Brian and Nick, the other set of twins? Hmmm. Tooting one’s horn is so unbecoming, but “TOOT, TOOT”! Many of you had the same idea as well, so... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Country House” | TV Show Recaps | 11/22/2007
If there was ever a thrill-a-minute Dirty Sexy Money, tonight’s episode was the one. Simon Elder has a different name, one I imagine starts with the letter “C”, no doubt. I could not believe that he had the cahones to dynamite the old Darling Plaza. Has he no heart? Has he not seen those touching scenes of Tripp waxing nostalgic about the 15-story building he once called “home”? Ah, cruelty. As if that wasn’t shocking enough, Ellen really pulled the rabbit out of... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Wedding” | TV Show Recaps | 11/15/2007
Or not. Karen and Freddie were married in a beautiful ceremony and divorced 45 minutes later, a record even for her. We knew she wouldn’t last long with the second-rate golfer, but the big news was that she finally admitted that she is in love with Nick. I found it rather sad that she was so freaked out when Freddie got down on his knees and professed his love for her and she immediately requested a divorce. He did get $3 million worth of Dirty Sexy Money, so how hard could it really be?... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Game” | TV Show Recaps | 11/1/2007
Two words. Freddie rapping! Fantastic! "The Game" was not a Halloween reference to bobbing for candy-covered apples, or pinning the tail on the ghoul. It referred to a high-stakes poker game where money, (you know it's Dirty Sexy Money) is worthless and real estate is king. I had a heart attack just watching them toss around $80 million at a time. I didn’t understand why Tripp would argue with Nick in front of the poker players. I found it unlike Nick for pushing something that hard with... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • "The Bridge" | TV Show Recaps | 10/25/2007
OK, first thing’s first. Tish didn’t reveal the truth about which child was not Tripp’s. That really ticks me off. However, did you catch Tish’s expression when Tripp brought up the twins and called them “different”? Priceless. Dirty Sexy Money mixes it up again. Also, it’s official: I love the twins. They fought over their birthday party and found that $1 million was not enough to split. This should be my problem. Juliet’s Marie Antoinette birthday party... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • "The Chiavennasca" | TV Show Recaps | 10/18/2007
Is it just me, or has this show gotten better every week? Darn! I love the Darlings. This week I laughed, I cried, I clapped and screamed along with both Brian Jr. and Juliet. Dirty Sexy Money! Hooray!Lisa spoke more in the first minute of this episode than in the whole series. And we finally found out that she works in a gallery. And picks up a lot of dry cleaning. With the truth of Tish and Dutch’s affair on the table, Tripp began to question: "The children, are they all mine?" Tish tried... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Italian Banker” | TV Show Recaps | 10/11/2007
So we’ve got a sex tape and we’ve got an Italian banker. Hmm, how do these two things fit together? What exactly was on that tape? We've got dirty, we've got sexy, and we've got Money, lots of it. Who wouldn’t love walking into a vault full of fresh, new money? Even Nick held that bag with a million dollars in it for half of the show. And Paolo, the Darling family's Italian banker, let us know that the inspiration for the sexual position known as the Italian banker was his... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • “The Lions” | TV Show Recaps | 10/4/2007
What a fitting episode title for the second installment of Dirty Sexy Money. Truths were revealed and secrets were kept hidden a little longer. So much happened in this ep, I don’t even know where to start. Some immediate highlights: • The photo shoot as “rebranding the family as fresh, hip”. • Patrick announcing his candidacy for the Senate based on his girlfriend’s suggestion.• Tripp reciting William Wordsworth.• Tripp speaking Swedish.Fantastic... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • "Pilot" | TV Show Recaps | 9/27/2007
Oh, for the love of money! Dirty Sexy Money, that is. Welcome to the world of the Darlings and their nonprofit-minded lawyer, Nick George. With a stellar cast including Peter Krause, Donald Sutherland, Jill Clayburgh and William Baldwin, ABC just might have a killer hit on their hands. We quickly learn of Nick’s propensity to be a "do-gooder" and the Darling family’s propensity to get in a lot of trouble. This juxtaposition between Nick’s righteousness and the Darlings' sense of... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • You Can't Be Filthy Rich without Getting Dirty | Celebrity Blogs | 9/26/2007
First, a few words from Dirty Sexy Money creator/executive producer Craig Wright:"Hi.Of all the myths about television, the biggest myth is that shows are created by individuals. Certainly ideas are born, sometimes, in a single brain. But in television, those ideas are almost immediately retooled in conversation with producers, studio and network executives, and, perhaps most fruitfully, actors, into new creations. By the time the show gets on the air, what you see is the product of literally... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • The New Season: Wednesday Heats Up | Matt Roush | 9/26/2007
First, an important public-service announcement: Tonight on The War, we relive D-Day, a momentous turning point in military history brought to vivid life by those who lived through it, courtesy of Ken Burns' masterful way with documentary narrative. I know this is premiere week, and Wednesday is the most competitive night for new shows this season, but I wouldn't be doing my duty if I didn't remind everyone that this is TV you not only shouldn't miss, but it's an experience you'll never forget.... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • Darling Paris: ABC's Dirty Sexy Savvy Publicity Stunt | Today's News: Our Take | 6/12/2007
Last Friday, as Paris Hilton took another spin through the detention facility turnstile and TV-news crews swarmed, a lone plane flitted across the sky above, toting a banner:"We Love Paris — the Darling Family"Meaningless and/or misinterpreted to many, it was a joke appreciated by the (growing) few familiar with Dirty Sexy Money, ABC's new family sudser starring Peter Krause as the de facto consigliore for the Darlings, an ironically named brood populated by the headline-making likes of... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • I'm a 30-year-old woman who ... | Matt Roush | 6/11/2007
Question: I'm a 30-year-old woman who is beyond delighted to see representations of real women on TV this season. It's nice to look at Sally Field, both as an actress and her character on Brothers & Sisters, and not get the sense that life ends for women with marriage and kids. Mrs. Walker is a complex, intelligent character, as are the other women represented in the show. I recently discovered Alias on DVD and cannot say enough about Lena Olin, either. She's gorgeous and fierce, while not... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • Fall 2007: Kiefer's Dad Punches In | Today's News: Our Take | 3/1/2007
The latest pilot developments, per Variety and the Hollywood Reporter:• Could Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh be the new Larry Hagman and Linda Gray? ABC is hoping so — they've given the veteran actors the lead roles of the heads of a super-rich family in their drama pilot Dirty Sexy Money. (Personally, I would have gone with Stockard Channing.)• NYPD Blue alum Bonnie Somerville has replaced Miranda Otto as a cosmetics mogul in Darren Star's new Execs and the City pilot... read more be the first to leave a comment
