Dancing's new season is just a few weeks away — the sequins and sambas return March 9 (8 pm/ET, ABC) — but Jewel is sidelined already.
The singer, who's hitting the parquet along with her husband, rodeo star Ty Murray, wrote on her blog Wednesday that knee trouble is keeping her from rehearsals for several days.
"My knees have been hurting so badly that I finally broke down and talked to Ty's knee doctor yesterday," she wrote. "He said I have tendonitis in my knees and that I have to start a course of medicine to try and bring the swelling down."
Jewel lamented that she was "kinda bummed" over the injury.

Jewel's Ty’d the knot.After 10 years together, the singer and rodeo champion Ty Murray eloped to the Bahamas and exchanged vows in a private ceremony Thursday night, People reports."She wore a traditional wedding gown, while Ty wore his favorite blue jeans, white shirt and cowboy hat," Jewel's rep told the magazine. Cheers to Nashville Star for cutting to the chase. American Idol's countrified cousin whittled down the audition process — which takes Simon Cowell & Co. seemingly endless weeks — to 20 minutes, and promptly presented the Top 12 finalists. It helped that there were none of the airtime-sucking freak-shows that make Idol's initial episodes so painful. Plus, Jewel smoothly transitioned from host to judge, making room for new emcee Billy Ray Cyrus to bring some of that Hannah Montana/Dancing With the Stars magic to the show as it's transplanted from USA to NBC. Cheers to CSI for taking a ride on the wild side. CBS' drama took a detour off the Sin City strip to probe a string of murders related to the Las Vegas rodeo. The episode rounded up a posse of rootin'-tootin' guests, including Jewel (singing the National Anthem), real-life cowboy-toy Ty Murray, outlaw offspring Shooter Jennings and sitcom vets Nicole Sullivan and Julie Brown. Not to mention a barroom full of catfighting cowgirls. Plus, the script was educational: Who knew there was such a thing as "semen rustling"?
