Jessica Simpson, who famously flubbed a rendition of "9 to 5" at this month's Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Dolly Parton, has deemed a subsequent redo also subpar, and has had it yanked from CBS' Dec. 26 telecast. "She really wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes," Simpson's rep tells the Associated Press. Says a show producer, "[We] respect the high standards [Jessica] has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors," to which Simpson then said, "Oh, yeah, and tell Jamie I'm sorry. I loved Malibu's Most Wanted."

Intending to honor Dolly Parton at Sunday's Kennedy Center Honors with a rendition of "Nine to Five," Jessica Simpson instead let butterflies get the best of her and flubbed her take on the tune, then rushed off the stage and later was seen in tears. "Jessica was overcome with emotion... because she's idolized Dolly her whole life," her publicist tells the New York Post's Page Six. "[She] wanted the song to be perfect." The big question: will the TV audience lay witness to the odd number when the event is broadcast on Dec. 26? Alas, CBS will likely edit out the meltdown, ventures the Post. Still, you have to give Jess props for being the biggest boob at a Dolly tribute.

Lips. Yes, her lips. As I took in a Wednesday screening of Jessica's new feature folly, Employee of the Month, I found myself positively transfixed by her large, plump, round and seemingly enhanced lips. And not in a good way, really. Employee of the Month is a cute and sometimes clever comedy, starring Dane Cook now my No. 1 pick to fill Chevy Chase's tennis shoes in any new Fletch film and Dax Shepard as bitter rival workers at Super Club (a badly "disguised" Costco superstore). But when J-Simp, the shared object of their affections, is on the screen, all you see are yes, those, but also her lips. I know there were reports in the celeb glossies months ago about Jessica possibly having had some "work" done on her pucker, and if true, it apparently was done mere seconds before she shot her scenes for EOTM. I plead ignorance about all things collagen and Botox, but whatever JS might (or might not) have had done seems to have affected her line delivery, as words aren't s...

Donald Trump, The Apprentice
Oftentimes at this point in The Apprentice's umpteen-week "job interview" — this round's season-ender unspools on May 29 and June 5 — the two candidates managing their final tasks are faced with most unexpected hurdles. Think back to Season 1, when Kwame Jackson was nearly waylaid by MIA concert performer Jessica Simpson (a near-flake-out that actually makes all the more sense now that we know so much more about the pop tart). Or look as recently as last season's finale, when Joe Piscopo — yes, Joe Pisco

Kellie Pickler, American Idol
After finding herself "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" by her previous song choice, Kellie Pickler sealed her fate on Fox's American Idol (Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET) last week by delivering what Simon called a "never-ending" take on "Unchained Melody." But while the North Carolinian admits that voters made the Righteous choice in sending her home — "Obviously, the past two weeks have not been my best, by far" — what's been wrong in all of this, she maintains, is any suggestion that her Southern-fried

Britain's Sun reports that Jessica Simpson will fill Pamela Anderson's shoes — and by "shoes" I mean French-cut lifeguard swimsuit — in a big-screen version of the Baywatch TV series. "She was the unanimous choice for the role," a source tells the paper. "Jessica has all the assets to make Pammi's part her own." In fact, they may have even bought them at the same store.

You'd think she'd want to start with something simpler, like, say, a toaster. But no, Jessica Simpson wants a baby, and she wants it soon. According to the Associated Press, Nick Lachey's soon-to-be ex-wife is seriously considering adoption. But, her publicist said, as if to reassure us all, "Nothing has been finalized yet" as to when or how the singer-actress-dingbat would go about this.

Question: Actually, the gray-haired guy is going to win American Idol, not the bald guy. So, got any real scoop? Guest judges, upcoming themes, etc?
Answer: In what was either an innocent good-luck gesture or a shameless attempt to get her footwear line some prime-time exposure, Jessica Simpson recently sent all the remaining female finalists a pair of "Jessica Simpson" shoes. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say it was a mix of both.
