  • Fall TV: CBS Eyes Four New Dramas, Adds Two Laffers | Today's News: Our Take | 5/12/2008
CBS reportedly will announce on Wednesday the pick-up of six new series for the 2008-09 TV season, including no less than four new dramas. Among that bunch are The Ex List (nee The Mythological Ex, a title you knew wasn't going to play in Peoria) starring Grey's Anatomy's Elizabeth Reaser; The Mentalist, starring Simon Baker; Jerry Bruckheimer's Eleventh Hour (in which a science professor advises a government agency; and Harper's Island (a murder mystery set at an island wedding).CBS two new comedies are Worst Week of My Life, chronicling the days before a young couple's wedding (because Big Day blew the roof off the place) and an untitled laffer starring Jay Mohr as a recent divorce. As reported earlier by Ausiello, CBS is expected to bring back The Unit and How I Met Your Mother, though Moonlight and Old Christine remain question marks. — MWMMore Fall TV news:• Eli Stone Renewed! • Does the World Need Another Lone Ranger? | Movie News | 3/31/2008
Is the world ready for a new Lone Ranger? Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are in talks with writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio to write a big-screen adaptation of the story of the masked man, his white stallion Silver and his Native American companion Tonto.Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Isn't the concept of the Lone Ranger a little dated? Maybe, but as the Hollywood Reporter astutely points out, Elliott and Rossio are the gents who wrote both The Mask of Zorro and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, so they know a thing or two about freshening old genres. If anyone can make the Ranger hip, it's them.In which case: Hi-yo, Bruckheimer, away! — Mickey O'Connor read more

  • Bruckheimer and CBS Chase Treasure Hunters | Today's News: Our Take | 8/16/2007
Jerry "Prolific Producer" Bruckheimer, he of CSI, Cold Case, Without a Trace and Amazing Race fame (and that's just TV), has secured a pilot order from longtime landing pad CBS for an untitled drama revolving around freelance treasure hunters, the Reporter reports. Ethan Reiff, who is penning the series with his Sleeper Cell cocreator Cyrus Voris, pegs it as an "A-class network version of an archaeology adventure show," and one grounded in (arti)facts by expert consultants.
