First of all, thanks to Mickey for covering last week’s very trippy episode while I did a little traveling of my own. I have to admit that after watching the episode several days later, I was somewhat relieved about not having to sort through Desmond’s “stickiness” issues. However, I do wish I could have shared with all of you how truly touched I was by the phone reunion between Desmond and Penny. I read through most of your comments and I am very firmly in the camp of those who feel that Desmond and Penny’s love story is really the heart of the show. (And Jack and Kate are the soul... and Sawyer and Kate are the libido.) Cheers: Lost's New Magic Number — Four | Cheers & Jeers | 2/15/2008
Cheers to Lost for finding a quartet of stellar talents to play the "rescuers" — aka "a headcase, a ghostbuster, an anthropologist and a drunk." Jeremy Davies (Faraday) has brought his off-kilter charisma to everything from Saving Private Ryan to Helter Skelter. Ken Leung (Miles) oozed magnetic hostility as Uncle Junior's roomie in The Sopranos and a Chinese army interrogator in HBO's too-little-seen movie Strip Search. Stunning Brit Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) was one of the best things about Fox's unjustly overlooked Justice. And Jeff Fahey (Lapidus) has been a personal fave since the underrated '90s drama The Marshal. They're all stronger actors than, say, Michelle Rodriguez, Rodrigo Santoro, Maggie Grace and Ian Somerhalder. I just hope they last longer. read more
Episode Recap: Confirmed Dead | Lost | 2/8/2008
If last week’s episode left me emotionally drained and thirsty for more, tonight’s episode left me completely baffled, slightly annoyed and, as always, thoroughly intrigued. (Oh, and it has to be said, sick to death of the seemingly endless commercial breaks.)Where to begin? First, I have to give props to the posters from last week who guessed that Naomi’s dying words were, in fact, a code to her team. Apparently, “Tell my sister I love her” really meant “Someone is holding a gun to my head and I am in grave danger.” Despite all of that, it still won’t surprise me if Naomi has more than one connection to our friends on the island. Tonight’s episode kicked off with the discovery of Oceanic Flight 815—or what appeared to be Oceanic Flight 815—deep in the waters off the coast of Bali. Old Christine meets up with an old friend when Jason Alexander guest-stars on an episode of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' CBS comedy this season. Alexander will play a lizard handler for children's parties with whom Christine goes out on a date.... Starting Sept. 23 Ian Ziering guests on three episodes of Lifetime's Side Order of Life, which stars Jason Priestley. Ziering plays Jenny's possible cell-phone mystery man....
