It's always a risky move to perform one of the judges' songs in front of them on American Idol, and for Emily Piriz the decision may have backfired.
Last Thursday, Piriz became the second contestant voted off of Season 13, after performingJennifer Lopez' "Let's Get Loud" 24 hours earlier.
But the 18-year-old from Miami says she doesn't regret her decision.
It's Week 2 of eliminations on Season 13 of American Idol, and the theme is "Home" — which, frankly, leaves the Top 12 a pretty wide range of songs to pick from, as long as their choice reminds them of some aspect of their town. Also, the pitch problems resulting from the new inner ear speakers thankfully seem to have been resolved this week. So, which song did each of the finalists choose to remind them of home? NBC has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to the Jennifer Lopez drama Shades of Blue.
The police drama from Ryan Seacrest will star Lopez as Harlee McCord, a single mother and detective recruited to work undercover for the FBI's anti-corruption task force. After Harlee becomes compromised by her tight-knit colleagues, she faces the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.
