Comedy/Drama. Steve-O and Heroin Bob are the lead characters in this obnoxious flick about a punk rocker who just graduated from college with honors. With a choice between 'No Future' and Harvard Law School, what is a guy with blue hair supposed to do?
A former neo-nazi skinhead is released from jail after serving his time for committing a heinous hate crime. Realizing that most of his life was consumed by violence and bigotry, he tries to prevent his younger brother from going down the same wrong path that he did. A profound and stirring drama.
The film tells the story of Derek Vinyard (Norton), taking place in the late 1980s and early 1990s. An extremely bright and charismatic student, Derek is drawn into the neo-Nazi underground after his father, a firefighter, is shot and killed by a black drug dealer while fighting a fire in a crack house. Derek had already been influenced by his father's critical views on black culture and affirmative action (his father refers to it as 'affirmative blacktion'), and his outlook was so galvanized by the circumstances of the murder that when asked how he felt about his fathers death by a news reporter, he launched a racist tirade on a local TV station.

It's 1985 and Stevo is that rare animal, a punk rocker in the Mormon stronghold of Salt Lake City, Utah. He just graduated from college with honors and now his life is a nutty roller coaster ride of rock shows, stealing cars, beating up rednecks and non-stop partying with his buddy, Heroin Bob, and his girlfriend. But with the scene getting lame and Stevo going nowhere fast, he has to put his punk ideals to the test. With a choice between "No Future" and Harvard Law School, what's a guy with blue hair supposed to do? Fueled by a classic punk rock soundtrack and hilarious, energetic performances from Matthew Lillard (Scream, She's All That), Michael Goorjian (Leaving Las Vegas, Hard Rain) and Annabeth Gish (Beautiful Girls, Nixon), SLC PUNK is one punk's madcap search for a way to grow up without selling out.
Growing up punk in Mormon Salt Lake City wasn't easy in the mid-eighties, and this soundtrack-driven film demonstrates why.
In conservative Salt Lake City in the early 80's, Stevo and Bob are the only two dedicated punks in the city.
