A political leader is being blackmailed. He asks Holmes and Watson to find the blackmailers. They both join a lonely hearts club, and Holmes is arrested after a fight. Watson and Lestrade must find the evidence to put the blackmailers in jail.

When a serial killer is sentenced to death, he issues a threat that he will kill Holmes before he is executed. He does escape after receiving a Christmas pudding and kills a policeman, assuming his identity.
