After his designs causes an Oregon shoe company to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor is first fired and then dumped by his girlfriend. While attempting to commit suicide, Drew is recieves word that his father has died and that it has fallen on Drew to make sure his dying wishes are fulfilled. On the way home to Elizabethtown, Drew meets a flight attendant (Dunst), with whom he begins a romance and in turn rediscovers the joys of life
