Jason Lee Teases "Exciting" Times for Earl

Jason Lee by Albert L. Ortega/ WireImage.com

You can't blame Jason Lee and Matthew Gray Gubler for being a little bleary Thursday night at the DVD release of Alvin and the Chipmunks. (Jason plays Dave, while Matthew voices bespectacled Chipmunk Simon.) Lee had just come from the set of My Name Is Earl, and was a bit fuzzy when asked what's in store when the show returns April 3. One tease he did spill was that guest star Alyssa Milano is back as his very pregnant wife in what looks like a '60s-inspired fantasy sequence. "Yeah, it's all sort of an imagined side of the story. You'll understand why when the season resumes," said Lee. Also dropping by the episode is, of course, Paris Hilton. "It'll probably be the most exciting thing on television since... forever," Lee smiled. "So look forward to it!" After a shorter-than-usual break, the Earl cast will start work on Season 4, which will air in the fall.Criminal Minds' Gubler is also working overtime on the CBS drama's set: "I haven't eaten all day," he explained as he munched on... read more

"Bad Earl"

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays Of course we all missed Earl during the holiday season but we couldnt miss the holiday season during Earls much-anticipated return we rejoined the gang just as they were getting ready to celebrate Christmas But first they celebrated Earls release from prison in true style complete with eggnog make that martini with an egg in it The festivities were lost on Earl though as he quickly began reassessing his relationship with karma once he got his list back Losing faith he dragged his feet during his next outing as a do-gooder Unable to understand why hed recently been dealt such a rotten hand he was one step away from going back to his old ways Enter Ralph We havent seen him in a while and his return was glorious As usual Giovanni Ribisi churned out a stellar performance Part of the reason hes so enjoyable to watch in this role is that you can plainly see how much fun hes having and he had some great material read more

Earl's Jason Lee Trades Jail for Chipmunks

Jason Lee, My Name Is Earl and Alvin and the Chipmunks

My Name Is Earl's (Thursdays, 8 pm/ET, NBC) star on acting with the Chipmunks, why he spent time in jail and his plan of action if the strike continues. TV Guide: In your new movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, you're without your trademark Earl mustache. Did losing it feel strange? Jason Lee: It was so liberating, and it only takes five or six weeks to grow it back. [Pause] People are just absolutely consumed with that — every time this comes up, there's, like, six questions about the mustache. In the '70s, with Tom Selleck on Magnum, P.I., it was the norm. It's funny how a mustache could be so ironic now. TV Guide: Your costars in the new movie Alvin and the Chipmunks are animated — how'd that work when you were shooting a scene? Lee: read more

Exclusive: Earl Charmed By Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano by John Shearer/WireImage.com

Sounds like there's some good frakkin' karma headin' Earl Hickey's way. My Name is Earl has tapped Alyssa Milano to join the cast as a possible love interest for Jason Lee. According to sources, the ex-sorceress is on board for a minimum of eight episodes, although an Earl insider disputes that, insisting she's only signed for three. Earl meets Milano's tough and quirky character through fellow inmate Frank (Michael Rapaport). The two bond and, through a bizarre twist of fate that harkens back to a seminal moment in Earl's past, he ends up teaching her the ins-and-outs of karma (note: karma very well could be a euphamism for something dirtier here).More casting prattle coming, so please stand by. In the meantime, discuss Milano's tube return in the comments section below.More TVGuide.com casting news: Exclusive: Sopranos' Edie Falco Gets a Piece of 30 Rock, Exclusive Friday Night Lights, Trace Casting Scoops, Exclusive: AS-P Casts a VIP on Jezebel James, Lee Majors Is Game's Six Mil... read more

TV Guide Presents: 15 Things We Learned from YouTube

YouTube features the music of Josh Holloway and the antics of a younger Jason Lee.

1. The Amazing Race has officially gone global. Many foreign networks broadcast the CBS hit. But so far only the Singapore-based AXN has put its own teams on the road with The Amazing Race: Asia. 2. John Krasinski is cool with being "OK." At a recent DVD signing, The Office's Jim smiled graciously when fans shouted, "You're hot!" But he really got a kick out of the girl who screamed, "You're OK!" 3. Jason Lee pops a mean "ollie." The My Name Is Earl star's pro skateboarding days roll on in YouTuber-posted videos showcasing his gravity-defying moves (and budding sideburns). 4. Tasers are the real reason Cops is still on the air. read more

The Secrets Behind My Name Is Earl's Animated Outing!

My Name Is Earl

This week's My Name Is Earl (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET, on NBC) isn't just super-sized, at 40 minutes long, and it doesn't just guest-star film vet Christian Slater. No, on top of all that, the outing presents Earl, Joy, et al, like you've never seen them before, when a visit to an earthy commune sends Randy trippin' into a foam-animated alternate Earliverse. Ethan Suplee, who plays Earl's bro, offered TVGuide.com a sneak peek. Jason Lee Teases an Evil Earl

When Fox Home Video releases the three-disc My Name Is Earl: The Complete First Season on Sept. 19, the DVD will have every episode shown on NBC... and one that wasn't. Introduced by star Jason Lee in full Masterpiece Theatre regalia, the phony "alternate pilot" has Earl learning about karma not from the compassionate Carson Daly, but from the vengeful Stewie Griffin of Family Guy, which leads Earl to get back at everyone who's done him wrong. "It was great playing Earl without a conscience," Lee admits. "I get to be a little meaner and a little more ignorant, which makes for good fun."Additional reporting by Paul Semel read more
