You can't blame Jason Lee and Matthew Gray Gubler for being a little bleary Thursday night at the DVD release of Alvin and the Chipmunks. (Jason plays Dave, while Matthew voices bespectacled Chipmunk Simon.) Lee had just come from the set of My Name Is Earl, and was a bit fuzzy when asked what's in store when the show returns April 3. One tease he did spill was that guest star Alyssa Milano is back as his very pregnant wife in what looks like a '60s-inspired fantasy sequence. "Yeah, it's all sort of an imagined side of the story. You'll understand why when the season resumes," said Lee. Also dropping by the episode is, of course, Paris Hilton. "It'll probably be the most exciting thing on television since... forever," Lee smiled. "So look forward to it!" I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays Of course we all missed Earl during the holiday season but we couldnt miss the holiday season during Earls much-anticipated return we rejoined the gang just as they were getting ready to celebrate Christmas But first they celebrated Earls release from prison in true style complete with eggnog make that martini with an egg in it The festivities were lost on Earl though as he quickly began reassessing his relationship with karma once he got his list back Losing faith he dragged his feet during his next outing as a do-gooder Unable to understand why hed recently been dealt such a rotten hand he was one step away from going back to his old ways Enter Ralph We havent seen him in a while and his return was glorious As usual Giovanni Ribisi churned out a stellar performance Part of the reason hes so enjoyable to watch in this role is that you can plainly see how much fun hes having and he had some great material

TV Guide: In your new movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, you're without your trademark Earl mustache. Did losing it feel strange? Jason Lee: It was so liberating, and it only takes five or six weeks to grow it back. [Pause] People are just absolutely consumed with that — every time this comes up, there's, like, six questions about the mustache. In the '70s, with Tom Selleck on Magnum, P.I., it was the norm. It's funny how a mustache could be so ironic now.

Sounds like there's some good frakkin' karma headin' Earl Hickey's way. My Name is Earl has tapped Alyssa Milano to join the cast as a possible love interest for Jason Lee. According to sources, the ex-sorceress is on board for a minimum of eight episodes, although an Earl insider disputes that, insisting she's only signed for three. Earl meets Milano's tough and quirky character through fellow inmate Frank (Michael Rapaport). The two bond and, through a bizarre twist of fate that harkens back to a seminal moment in Earl's past, he ends up teaching her the ins-and-outs of karma (note: karma very well could be a euphamism for something dirtier here).More casting prattle coming, so please stand by. When Fox Home Video releases the three-disc My Name Is Earl: The Complete First Season on Sept. 19, the DVD will have every episode shown on NBC... and one that wasn't. Introduced by star Jason Lee in full Masterpiece Theatre regalia, the phony "alternate pilot" has Earl learning about karma not from the compassionate Carson Daly, but from the vengeful Stewie Griffin of Family Guy, which leads Earl to get back at everyone who's done him wrong.
