Minka Kelly, Jason Dohring
Friday Night Lights' Minka Kelly has landed the female lead on Body Politic, the CW's pilot about an absurdly pretty gathering of D.C. up-and-comers.
Kelly will play Hope, a sweet Michigan gal who, after her mother dies, moves to Washington to ...

Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles in Moonlight by Eric McCandless/CBS
Not to beat a dead vampire, but despite all the last-ditch efforts by the CW, TNT, DirecTV Moonlight is actually dead, according to the A HREF="http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/06/moonlight-is-de.htmlHollywood Reporter. Their source says the sets have been dismantled, and the show's soundstage will soon be occupied by Simon Baker's new drama The Mentalist.Although I wasn't a regular viewer of Moonlight, I am sad for its passing, since it's nice when a show generates such a devoted fan base. Let's all look toward the future though. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, star of the recently canceled New Amsterdam, has already landed a new pilot at Fox. Where will you like to see Moonlight stars Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles and Jason Dohring show up next?A Dohring-Kristen Bell reunion on Heroes seems inevitable. Myles might make a dangerous addition to Mad Men's stable of lethal beauties. And call me crazy, but when I see O'Loughlin, I immediately think: "Widmore henchman" on Lost. Got any ...

Question: I had a chance to watch the pilots for both Moonlight and Reaper. I'm a big Supernatural fan, and these ghost/vampire genre shows, when done well, are a lot of fun. To me, one of these shows demonstrates how you do it well, and one demonstrates how you do it badly. Let's start with the good: I really enjoy Reaper. The stars are likable, the writing is fun, and it genuinely made me laugh. It obviously isn't taking itself too seriously, but the effects are still nice and flashy, and let's face it: You couldn't ask for a more charming Satan than Ray Wise. I hope he gets more screen time. The creators obviously have a clear vision that the look, the music and the story all contribute to. I'll definitely keep tuning in. Now on to Moonlight — yikes! First of all, that voice-over. We get it, you're an angsty vampire. Shut up, already! I think the excessive VO makes the bad writing even worse. Because the writing is bad. So full of clichés! I wanted to laugh at the overly serious ...

Alex O'Loughlin, Moonlight
On Friday nights this season, after Jennifer Love Hewitt gets done talking to ghosts, CBS is segueing into vampires. In Moonlight (premiering tonight at 9 pm/ET), Aussie hunk Alex O'Loughlin plays Mick St. John, a private investigator whose bite, in theory, is in fact far worse than his bark. Not that Mick is that guy. No, he feeds his hunger for the red stuff with black-market bags of O-positive and what-have-you. (Alas, his associate, played by Veronica Mars' Jason Dohring, is not so conscientious, and prefers the arm of the nearest lithe lass.) TVGuide.com invited O'Loughlin to give us some (gentle...) sound bites.
TVGuide.com: On paper, the critics have noted that the vampire PI TV show is a road well traveled. What will set your show apart?

Jason Dohring by Patrick Ecclesine/The CW
Jason Dohring, aka Veronica Mars' love-to-hate-him/hate-to-love-him Logan, has found another role with some real bite to it. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dohring is joining the new CBS drama Moonlight as Josef, an ancient vampire. Interestingly, Dohring is replacing 60-year-old Rade Serbedzija, now that the character has been reconceptualized as a young and mischievous hedge-fund trader.Speaking of fall-TV recasts, Hidden Palms' D.W. Moffett (a TVGuide.com celebrity blogger) is joining the CW's Life Is Wild, replacing Brett Cullen as the relocated-to-South Africa family's pop.Moonlight is slated to air Fridays at 9 pm/ET, Life Is Wild Sundays at 8. Here is the complete 2007-08 prime-time schedule.

The things a girl has to do to stay on the air — especially an underdog like Veronica Mars (the insanely appealing Kristen Bell), that smart-as-a-whip cult hero/college detective for whom solving cases and breaking hearts is all in a day's work. If only she could rustle up some ratings while she's at it.
Trying to avoid what seems an almost inevitable death notice, Veronica Mars has returned from hiatus with a new format of stand-alone episodes in place of longer, convoluted mystery arcs. The good news is that simplifying Veronica doesn't mean dumbing down.
The show's virtues are intact: irony-laced banter, film noir-ish voice-overs with a twist ("Where's the sugar rush of sweet justice I should be feeling right now?") and deliciously tortured triangles, currently involving Veronica, poor- little-rich-boy Logan (Jason Dohring)

Kristen Bell in Fifty Pills
On the CW's Veronica Mars (Tuesdays at 9 pm/ET), Kristen Bell plays a sassy crime fighter who revels in putting the bad guys behind bars (or at least getting a bit of payback). But in the newly released DVD for Fifty Pills, fans will get to see quite a different side of her as a somewhat proper love interest to a fella who has to sell Ecstasy in order to stay in college. TVGuide.com asked Bell about the indie flick as well as the rest of Veronica Mars' Season 3 — including her current take on Logan and Veronica's fate.
TVGuide.com: Fifty Pills has sort of an American Pie kind of vibe.Kristen Bell: Yeah, it definitely has that feel to it.
TVGuide.com: And you get to play the nice good girl.Bell:

Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring and Chris Lowell, Veronica Mars
Question: What is your opinion of the Veronica-Logan dynamic on Veronica Mars recently? I was an avid supporter of the pairing back in the first season. Their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, and they seemed like a good match. Lately, however, it's been feeling like more of a Dawson-Joey soul-matey melodrama. It's so much of an on-again/off-again romance that the dynamic between them has shifted, making me wish that for now, they would just pull the plug on the relationship. They play off each other much better when they're apart, with both snark and spark making their relationship much more complex.
Answer: This question came in before last week's breakup episode, so I'm assuming Kerry is now a happier camper than either Veronica or Logan. Personally, I'm OK when they're together (some of the best pillow-talk banter anywhere) and when they're apart, but I agree it creates more dramatic tension for the show when they're not all happy and snuggly. I guess if they'd just let the coupl ...

Question: You said you did an interview with Jason Dohring at the CW launch party. Well, where is it?
Answer:
We had some technical difficulties, but
it's up now and working. Promise. And before anyone asks, yes, I asked him to respond to
Kristen's controversial comments about Logan not being good enough for Veronica. Believe it or not, it was the first he had heard of it. (And I don't think it made him happy.)
