Cheers: From the White House to House

Janel Moloney by Mark Lipson/FOX

Cheers to Janel Moloney for proving there's life after The West Wing. The former Bartlet Administration staffer delivered a brave dramatic turn on House as a single mother battling a mysterious disease that caused partial paralysis, temporary blindness and — in the episode's ickiest scene — bleeding eyes. This high-profile guest shot comes on the heels of Moloney's impressive change-of-pace role on Showtime's Brotherhood as a politician's coldhearted mistress. George W. Bush can only hope for such a successful post-White House career.• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on HBO's In Treatment, The Sopranos' SAG Awards wins and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

On a Busy Sunday, Praising Brotherhood

Jason Clarke and Jason Isaacs in Brotherhood by Jim Fiscus/Showtime

This Sunday, it sure didn't feel as if the sweeps month had already ended. Major pivotal episodes of ABC's hit series, a movie special on CBS (one of the better Hallmark Hall of Fames to air in a while) and, somewhat lost in the shuffle, a season finale of one of TV's more underappreciated dramas. That's a lot to digest.First off, the watercooler show of the night was unquestionably Desperate Housewives, capping an above-par season with the long-awaited arrival of a devastating twister. The circumstances were just about as far-fetched as most things that happen in this diverting comedic soap, but that final shot of a flattened Wisteria Lane was truly apocalyptic. Lynnette’s banshee screech would have been justified even if she hadn’t just realized the house where her family had hunkered down in the basement was buried in rubble. Outstanding.(For the record, I side with those who think that Ida, the owner of the wayward cat, is probably the “friend” referred to in... read more

It's Showtime for West Winger, Princess Leia

The West Wing's Donna ain't lovelorn no more. Janel Moloney is joining the cast of Showtime's Brotherhood for at least four episodes this season, playing a woman who has an affair with Jason Clarke's ambitious politico. (All together now: Poor Annabeth Gish.)In other Showtime news, in addition to Matthew Modine joining Weeds for at least 10 episodes (first scooped by the Ausiello Report, he'll serve as a love interest for both Nancy and Celia), Zooey Deschanel's krazy Kat is returning for the Season 3 opener, while Carrie Fisher will guest this season as Celia's "May-the-divorce-be-with-you" lawyer. read more

Rob Lowe Is Seaborn Again on Wing

Rob Lowe, The West Wing

President Bartlet may not have been eligible for another term, but Rob Lowe has elected to revisit NBC's The West Wing (Sundays at 8 pm/ET). "One line, and Rob was back where he left off," executive producer Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. says of Lowe, who's reprising the role that resurrected his career when The West Wing premiered in 1999. Lowe left the show in 2002 in a dispute over salary and screen time. Now, with the series coming to an end next month, Lowe has signed on to make two guest appearances, with the first of his episodes airing on April 23. "It was a great moment," says O'Donnell. In Justice Star to Keep Entourage?

Constance Zimmer, In Justice

Constance Zimmer has played the hippest nun we've ever seen (on Joan of Arcadia) and has held her own when trading caustic barbs with Jeremy Piven on Entourage. So who better to fight the good fight in getting wrongfully incarcerated folk out of the clink on ABC's In Justice (Fridays at 10 pm/ET)? The Queen of Acerbic (our words) postponed her lunch date with a bowl of Peanut Butter Puffins long enough to speak with TVGuide.com about her wide and wild array of roles. TVGuide.com: As I said to your cast mate Jason O'Mara a few weeks ago, I love In Justice and& read more

Ausiello, please, please, ...

Question: Ausiello, please, please, please tell us if Janel Moloney is getting written off The West Wing. I just watched the premiere, and I'm feeling pretty hopeless.

Answer: No, just like the rest of the show's original cast, Janel will be around for roughly half of this season's episodes. And (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT) I'm hearing Josh and Donna will be working together again very soon.

West Wing's Love Dilemma

White House staffers Josh Lyman and Donna Moss have been through so much on The West Wing. When he was shot, she was there for him. Now, she's been injured in a terrorist car-bombing, and he's there for her. They've had it rough, but darn it, they're still single, available and breathing! So why don't these two political vets just hook up already? According to Donna's portrayer, Janel Moloney, Josh and Donna will grow closer as she recovers from her injuries in that German hospital. "You get to see the relationship become very intimate," she tells TV Guide Online. "There's an intimacy and an emotionality that you haven't seen between them." Now, hold on. This teasing thespian doesn't mean that kind of intimacy. "I'm not sure it's totally necessary to put them together," Moloney says. "Like a lot of us, [WW producer John Wells] has a fear it's gonna get silly if we start running around together romantically. Three-quarters of the read more
