Will Kelly Hu's In Case of Emergency Get a "Happy Ending"?

Kelly Hu, In Case of Emergency

Last week, in the wake of the second batch of Idol, ABC opted to shuffle its Wednesday lineup, moving The Knights of Prosperity out of the highly competitive 9 o'clock hour. Fellow freshman sitcom In Case of Emergency, meanwhile, has been left standing pat at 9:30 pm to fight the good fight. TVGuide.com checked in with Kelly Hu, who plays a "massage therapist" on the laffer, to survey her sexy new role. But first, an early celebration.... TVGuide.com: Someone's got a birthday coming up, huh?Kelly Hu: I do [on Feb. 13].... But I don't know if I want to celebrate birthdays anymore. I'm getting to that age where it's not so fun. Casting About: Jennifer Aniston Wallows in Dirt

It's official: This is what Friends are for. Jennifer Aniston will guest on the March 27 season finale of Courteney Cox's FX series Dirt, Variety reports. The actress formerly known as Rachel Green will play a rival of Cox's tabloid editor.... Who better than Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, to guest on a show called In Case of Emergency? Randolph Mantooth, you say? OK, but he just wasn't right for the part of David Arquette's mother. Instead, Jane Seymour has been tapped to appear in three episodes. Actually, come to think of it, Jane's not right for that part, either. I'm seeing Shirley Jones. read more

Brothers, Mother and Other Odds and Ends

Some random TV thoughts:Each week since its overly somber premiere, ABC's Brothers & Sisters has improved, slowly becoming a more entertaining, if not yet compelling, family drama. The most recent episode, involving a series of eventful dates for most of the major characters, had a mostly deft light touch, showing (I think) the influence of Everwood's Greg Berlanti on the creative direction of the show. It's becoming a more suitable companion for Desperate Housewives, which also has improved from last season's doldrums. Housewives is still far from perfect, but give me some Edie Britt bitchiness, a little manipulative scheming from Bree and several mysterious twists (why was Mike Delfino's phone number etched in ink on the season's mystery corpse?), and I'm relatively satisfied. I can even get past the tiresome Gabby-Carlos feuding and Nora meddling in the indifferently plotted Lynette-Tom story line. (Did you notice, by the way, a walk-on by Who Wants to Be a Superhero's Major V... read more

Fox Teases Prison Break Finale, Sweeps Shockers

The highlights of a November-sweeps press release from Fox:• In all-new episodes of Prison Break, Michael is determined to reunite with Sarah, while Mahone and Kellerman are dead-set on keeping them apart, permanently (on Nov. 6); T-Bag makes the ultimate sacrifice to get his hand on Westmoreland's millions, while Lincoln says goodbye to another loved one (Nov. 13); Bellick makes a stunning confession, as Michael and Lincoln make their run for the border (Nov. 20); and alliances are turned upside-down once again (in the series' Nov. 27 fall finale).• On Nov. 15, in one of three new Bones episodes, Brennan and Hodgins, the Grave Digger's latest victims, are forced to try to solve their own kidnapping from an underground grave.• Sweeps guest stars include Everwood's Chris Pratt (in a multi-episode arc on The O.C., starting Nov. 2); film vet David Morse (in four episodes of House, starting Nov. 7); Arrested Development's Jessica Walter (Happy Hour, Nov. 16); and Jane Sey... read more

Smallville In the WB universe,...

SmallvilleIn the WB universe, this two-hour Smallville qualifies as a movie event. In my little world, they're repeats. Specifically, they are last season's finale and this year's season premiere. Nice try, WB. Jane Seymour tries to kick some Lana Lang butt, that is until Possessed Lana takes charge and stabs Jason Teague's mama with one of those precious stones everyone went all insane over. Speaking of Mr. Teague, it was sad to see him go out the way he did, looking all bloody and stupid in the Kent house. My favorite scene is still the Clark-and-Chloe confab in the hospital at the North Pole: "To me, you're more than a hero. You're a superhero." Yes, I got all warm and fuzzy after she said this, making me the biggest sap on the planet. I'm well aware of this fact. read more

I admit it. I'm superexcited for...

I admit it. I'm superexcited for this entire season. We're about to get Tom Welling and James Marsters on the same show. Yeah, I know, I'm gushing. Sue me. But before you do, let's talk. Last season, I watched on and off, so I admit to some confusion with all things three stones, Lana's tattooed back and Jane Seymour. But that's behind me. I think this season, The Powers That Be really need to up the ante and become bigger and better, especially since the show is in a dreadful time slot. And here's just a few ways they're already going about it. 1) There's no better way to hook me than going all Superman 2. Seriously, the Kryptonian superhumans that came to Earth. Lionel Luthor uttering "The disciples of Zod must be stopped." Clark entering the Fortress of Solitude. Over the top, but I fell for it. Except for the way Kal-El got rid of the bad guys. Too easy and cheesy. 2) Clark now knows Chloe knows about his secret. Those scenes in the read more

Smallville Fears Dr. Quinn

Whoever said that beauty is skin deep has obviously never met Jane Seymour. Our favorite Medicine Woman has been quietly lending her off-camera artistry to a spate of good causes, including the Red Cross and child-abuse groups, while behaving very badly as Genevieve, the wicked mother of Lana's beau (Jensen Ackles) on Smallville. Proving that charity starts at home, the still-stunning mother of six took a time-out from a painting powwow at her home and dial up TV Guide Online to dish everything from promoting women's health to playing women from hell.TV Guide Online: Is this a bad time? It sounds like you've got a full house right now.Jane Seymour: We've got a whole group of artists here [and] a whole bunch of costumes. My two daughters, who are actresses, [are] dressed up... they were [1930s-era] flappers a moment ago. I just put my hair up in a Gibson and did something, as usual, very Victor read more
