Vrooom! Helio Castroneves Takes The Lead!

Was this Wayne Newton's swan song? Wayne Newton, Cheryl Burke by Carol Kaelson/ABC

There are no words to describe the hotness that is Helio Castroneves! He's bold, he's sexy, he's suave and that smile makes me melt! Yum! I am 100% in his corner! He can dance, and he's going to be very tough to beat!Sabrina Bryan may have lost the top spot, but she still put on quite a show. She proved to be elegant as well as saucy! She has done well in both the latin and ballroom dances, and that will keep her at the top all the way to the final show.Mel B also proved that pop dancers can be elegant. I was surprised her quickstep was so smooth. She pulled it out! I would love to hang out with her. She cracked me up when she "strangled" Drew Lachey!Could it be? Marie Osmond in the top three? I didn't think she was technically better than those who placed below her, but she had a different vibe. A fun vibe! I found myself cheering for her and it took me by surprise! But Marie, the hair was no good! Was that a flower in there? I had no idea. Hair, bad. Dance, good! The 21 Club: this ... read more

Backstage at Dancing with the Stars: Let's Hear It for the Boys!

Wayne Newton, Dancing with the Stars

If you were watching closely on Monday night, you saw 12 new stars make their grand entrances down the twin curving staircases — and two of them tripping. And it wasn't the women having trouble with their long gowns and high heels: It was All My Children star Cameron Mathison and Las Vegas legend Wayne Newton. "I think they're terrified of the women," said Dancing with the Stars executive producer Conrad Green the next morning. "I think the men's knees went to jelly when they walked out. So many people are cocky before they enter the ballroom. But it's actually quite intimidating." So the season is fast shaping up like this: The women are stronger dancers than the men. "The women are just fierce, says model read more

After last night's opener, I am ready to see if any of these guys have the moves to take down the likes of Sabrina Bryan and Jane Seymour. Will Floyd Mayweather dominate on the dance floor as in the ring? Will Wayne Newton provide an abundance of laughs? I sure hope so!Who's the man tonight? Chat away as we find out and check right back here after the show for the recap! read more

The New Season: Busy Enough for You?

Masi Oka and David Anders in Heroes by Paul Drinkwater/NBC Photo

Already playing catch-up on only the second day of the official TV season. Geez, how will we ever survive Wednesdays and Thursdays? (Pause here for a silent prayer to the powers that protect my DVRs.)Anyway, the biggest news on Monday was how Heroes would bounce back from a first-season finale that disappointed many (I was not among them, but then, my expectations for this uneven show haven’t always been all that high). I was mostly enthralled, once I got over yet another tedious Mohinder speech to kick off the season with more blah-blah about destiny and the plague that threatens to eradicate these evolutionary wonder-heroes as “the fate of humanity itself hangs in the balance.” Seriously, they talk that way all the time on Heroes, and don’t I wish Mohinder would just put a sock in it.But then the story kicks in, and by the end, I’m even in awe of Mohinder, who’s in league with Noah Bennet (formerly HRG) to infiltrate The Company and bring them down. Meow! The Cheetah Girl Dances into an Early Lead!

Jane Seymour's still got it! Dancing With the Stars by Carol Kaelson/ABC

Episode Recap: "Premiere" (Sept. 24, 2007)Wow! Before the premiere of DWTS, I had no idea who Sabrina Bryan was — but now I won't forget her! That was some cha-cha. The best ever on the show, according to Carrie Ann Inaba. I agree. This girl is the one to beat!If anyone can go toe-to-toe with Sabrina, it's Mel B. She looks fantastic and she can shake it too! Her energy is surprising, considering she has an infant at home! Speaking of infants, congratulations go to Samantha Harris on the birth of her baby girl! It is different without her, is it not? It surprises me to say it, but I miss her. Drew Lachey is a welcome addition as host, but the backstage interviews just aren't the same. But back to the dancing! I love Jennie Garth. Is it me, or is she more beautiful now than during her 90210 days? Once she finds her confidence, I think she has major potential. I am rooting for her all the way!Someone else to look out for is Jane Seymour. She is grace personified! But maybe that sh... read more

Preview: Meet the New DWTS Cast

Will Josie Maran and pro Alec Mazo waltz their way to a win? Dancing With the Stars by Adam Larkey/ABC

Sure, it may sound like the beginning of a lame joke: "A boxer, a Spice Girl and a Mormon waltz into a ballroom...." But there's nothing funny about the spirit of competition in this blockbuster reality series, which opens Season 5 with 12 hot-to-foxtrot contestants. The roster includes the aforementioned Floyd Mayweather Jr., Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and crooner Marie Osmond, respectively — as well as Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, pro racecar driver Helio Castroneves, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, 90210 alum Jennie Garth, actress Josie Maran, soap stud Cameron Mathison, legend Wayne Newton, model Albert Reed and Jane Seymour (yep, the Medicine Woman is gonna shake it!). We'll meet everyone, but the first round of performances on the premiere will feature female competitors only, while the men strut their stuff in another 90-minute episode the following night. — Joe Friedrich read more

Dancing with the Stars Preview: The Jane Seymour Q&A

Jane Seymour

It was a depression she just couldn't shake. "My mom had a stroke, and I've been commuting back to England to be with her," says Jane Seymour, the actress once dubbed "queen of the miniseries," who traveled back home for a visit just last month. As she sits on a bench at the Malibu Performing Arts Center during a break from rehearsals, Seymour, still lithe and elegant at 56, is explaining why she chose to become the oldest woman ever to tackle the intense dance marathon that is Dancing with the Stars. It was a decision she once thought would be, in a word, "ridiculous." "My husband's doing a film called Waiting for Forever," says Seymour (she's married to film and television director James Keach). "And the casting director for that happens to be married to one of the c read more

Jane Seymour. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Wayne Newton. Jennie Garth. The lineup for the fifth season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars — premiering Sept. 24 — will again showcase actors and singers not known for their dancing, as well as former teen idols, models, athletes, and names many have never heard of. "The people who work best for us have a good story, who come from a field where you think, 'Wow, why are they doing this?'" says executive producer Conrad Green. That includes "Mr. Las Vegas," Wayne Newton, whom producers have been trying to land for two years. "I've worked my entire life doing two shows a night, seven nights a week," says the 65-year-old. "But this is a whole different ball of wax."The casting may seem arbitrary, but it's a very precise process. Explains Green, "We tend to start by thinking about a few key people we'd love to get on the show, or professions we haven't had. There are certain professions and personality types that the audience really engages w... read more

Wedding Crashers' Jane Seymour Is One ICE-y Hot Mama

Jane Seymour, In Case of Emergency

Michaela "Mike" Quinn is playing doctor again, though this time she is a far cry from the Wild West and she'll have temperatures rising in a very different way.
