Roz encounters Frasier reading the classifieds at Caf Nervosa and gives him some advice on hunting in the personals. In actuality he is searching for a housekeeper since he is uncomfortable asking Daphne to pick up after him now that she is dating Niles. Roz persuades Frasier to place a Christmas wrapping paper order in support of a fundraiser for her daughter's school and rushes off to continue in the race for top seller. Niles enters the caf flustered from an encounter with his soon to be ex-wife Mel. As payback before granting him a divorce, she is subjecting Niles to various episodes of social humiliation. Most recently, she would not permit him to answer his cell phone while it rang to the tune of 'La Cucaracha' at the funeral of a Colonel high on the social status ladder. It occurs to them that the Colonel's English butler is now available for employment and they each race to reach their cell phones. A reminder from Frasier that a butler would ease Daphne's workload results in Niles refraining from the pursuit. Frasier enjoys the pampering provided by his new butler, Ferguson, and his assistance in favorably positioning Frasier for a recently available seat on the Opera Guild board. Ferguson and Daphne share a moment in the kitchen comparing memories of England. Daphne gives Ferguson a word of advice that he does not need to maintain the formal ceremony around Martin. Ferguson explains he likes to maintain professionalism to establish the line between a family and it's servant. Daphne understands the innuendo he is making of her relationship with Niles and assures him that she and Niles are in love. Ferguson expresses his skepticism about an employee/employer relationship. watch

Frasier is psyched to learn that his neighbor, Regan, is no longer seeing her boy friend, but isn't sure whether he should ask her out, since every time he does, he makes a fool out of himself. In the mean time, after learning Donny's best man can't throw his bachelor party, Frasier volunteers to host the bash. Over at Caf Nervosa, Frasier and Roz are shocked when they see Niles' wife Maris, who has put on a lot of weight. Apparently, Maris is so upset over Niles' romance with her plastic surgeon, Mel, she's been eating everything insight, and spreading nasty rumors about Mel's medical skills. Later, Frasier is embarrassed when Regan spots him buying an X- rated newspaper in which he hopes to find an ad for a bachelor party stripper. Martin steps in and hires a stripper named Dinah to come over and audition for Frasier. Knowing Daphne thinks Frasier is throwing Donny a Grated bachelor party, Frasier tries to hide Dinah's identity. To his dismay, he accidentally gets handcuffed to the stripper, then bumps into Regan, just as Maris shows up to talk with Niles. Cornered, Frasier explains everything to Regan and Daphne, while Dinah surprises everyone by asking Frasier out. watch

Keck's Exclusives: Hung Takes a Transgender Turn

Hung's Thomas Jane has long maintained a "no gay sex" mandate for his male prostitute character, Ray Drecker, and "that maxim still stands," he says. But when a rival anything-goes gigolo (The Vampire Diaries' Stephen Amell) hones in on Ray's territory in Hung's third season (premiering on HBO in October), Ray inches closer to the forbidden LGBT zone. Mid-season, he'll bed down with a pre-op transgender receptionist named Kyla before contemplating a full same-sex encounter. Kyla is played by transgender actress Jamie Clayton, whose only previous TV experience was cohosting VH1's TRANSform Me.

When Thomas first got wind of Ray's new adventures... read more

April 24, 2007: House Training

I think it's safe to say that tonight's show was a bit of a downer. If the unnecessary death of Lupe (Monique Gabriela Curnen), a young, economically depressed woman, doesn't convince you of that, then maybe the presence of Foreman's Alzheimer-stricken mother (Beverly Todd) will. Lupe entered the hospital exhibiting all sorts of worrisome symptoms that baffled the doctors. At Foreman's insistence they treated her to a dosage of full-body radiation to kill the suspected cancer. But only after destroying her auto-immune system did they realize that the source of her distress was an infection. Their treatment effectively killed her. So this time it was Foreman sitting at a dying patient's bedside. (Remember that Cameron is now emotionally unavailable for such things.) The situation provided for some fine moments from a wrecked Foreman who was already struggling with the effects of his visiting mother's dementia. Meanwhile, House struggled to identify the true nature of Wilson and Cudd... read more
