D'Artagnan and the musketeers are the only ones who know of the existence of a twin brother, and Fouquet uses his influence to keep everyone silenced. The main story was changed by portraying Louis XIV as selfish, cruel, and incompetent, and Philippe the kind-hearted brother who is raised by D'Artagnan and the musketeers and does not even know that he has an identical twin.
Tough district attorney Jim Stowell (William) believes every murderer deserves to be sentenced to death, regardless of circumstances. He prosecutes elderly Professor Shaw MacAllen (Morgan) in the murder of his wife, who was killed in a fit of jealous rage, and wins the death penalty. However, Jim discovers fierce jealousy himself when family friend Phil (Lunigan) pays too much attention to his neglected wife Lucy (Patrick). In the coming days, Shaw's rage and jealousy grows over Lucy and Phil's innocent friendship, leading to thoughts of killing his wife and friend. Jim almost murders Lucy, but stops at the last moment, coming to understand Professor MacAllen's motivation for murder, having experienced it himself. He then tries to stop the execution.
An airplane cracks up during a storm and crash-lands on an uncharted South Sea island. The pilots are killed, but all nine passengers survive unscathed, including runaway bride Anne Wesson (Madge Evans), fugitive criminal Robert Malone (Bruce Cabot), blonde strumpet Iris Compton (Marion Martin), crooked senator Corey (Gene Lockhart), "radical" heiress Thelma Chase (Charlotte Wynters), munitions salesmen Jessup (Don Barry) and Brand (Morgan Conway), and cheerful Chinese cook Ping (Willie Fung). Forced to fend for themselves, the marooned passengers are helped along by resident beachcomber Jim Taylor (John Boles), a convicted murderer who has escaped to the island to "find himself". What he finds, of course, is romance in the form of Anne Wesson. Intriguing and entertaining.
