A veritable who's who of television — including Josh Cooke, Kathrine Narducci, Kym Whitley, Kurt Fuller and Emmanuelle Vaugier — on Saturday night attended the wrap party for the upcoming indie film Group Sex, in the hills of Beverly Hills. Executive producer John Viola's new home was transformed into a casino with blackjack, poker, roulette and craps games at play. Although cast member Tom Arnold did not make an appearance, the police did after neighbors complained about the noise. Coming to the rescue was Heroes star (and co-writer of Group Sex) Greg Grunberg, who apologized to the lawmen for the volume from a performance by he and several members of Band From TV, including lead guitarist James Denton (Desperate Housewives), who also has a role in the film.As for riveting the world with his comedy about sexaholics, Grunberg’s ideas about that might catch the attention of the authorities as well. For those of us (I include myself) who often bemoan the ditzy, clutzy storylines consistently given to Susan (Teri Hatcher), tonight's episode was certainly a departure. Last week we saw a single brief glimpse of Mike taking some medication, on the sly. Tonight Bree discovered, and alerted Susan, that Mike was taking a "highly addictive narcotic." Feel free to disagree (seems Hatcher's acting ability is a divisive issue), but I really do think she can act, and the writers' constant use of her character as bimbo comic relief was/is a shame. In fact, I think she can play dark, dramatic and sinister better than Mike (James Denton). But it's Mike who has the drug problem, whether it's an addiction to painkillers or something worse. Susan assured him that he shouldn't feel pressure to overwork and provide an upscale suburban lifestyle for their child, but should focus on being a healthy father. Well, they said the final scene would be a shocker, and they were right. I am speechless. You know how much I love my Edie. Would it be too much to ask to have Carlos heroically and miraculously walk in during the very first scene this fall and save her? I do not want this show to go on without Nicollette Sheridan. Yes, Edie is not one of the four main housewives, but the show would not be the same without her. Soap operas have had people hang themselves and be saved at the last minute. Until I get a confirmation, I'm going to spend this entire summer believing Edie is not dead.
