In the immediate aftermath of September 11, Jake and Andrew tried, like everyone else, to numb the pain and anguish of seeing their home attacked. A year later, the hangover still lingers. Andrew spends his days on Wall Street, and Jake has given up writing fiction to cover sports. But now Andrew has a plan, it is a plan with no plan; ditch New York and hit the road, going nowhere. Jake decides to follow along, like he always has, but when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, Andrew is forced to reveal the real reason for the trip: his father has died, and he needs Jake to come with him to the funeral. On the road and in small town Ohio, Andrew and Jake discover that sometimes you have to get lost to figure out where you're going.

Feature trailer for How I Got Lost.
To most New Yorkers, 9/11 was more than pivotal, it was 'the day the world ended' or at least the way they viewed it. None of it made sense... not to Jake (Jacob Fishel), an aspiring novelist eking out a living as a sports writer, who always does the right thing... And not to his best friend Andrew (Aaron Stanford), a hard-drinking Wall Street wannabe, who lives for the thrill. When the volatile Andrew hijacks the dutiful Jake for a mysterious, late-night road trip dragging his reluctant (and shoeless) friend away from his typewriter and a poisonous 'relationship'- they are halfway through nowhere before Andrew reveals they are enroute to his estranged father's funeral in rural Ohio. As the service looms, Andrew's tailspin worsens and he does what he always does-runs. Once again, Jake stays behind to pick up the pieces, encountering a waitress at the local diner (Rosemarie DeWitt, The Company of Men, Rachel Getting Married). Fate conspires to end their friendship, but puts them each on a new path. Though no one knows what comes next, both realize that sometimes you have to get lost to figure out where you're going.
