Red North is getting by as a reliable small-time bush pilot in Canada's north. But Red's vindicative half-brother Paul Gerard decides to relocate his bush pilot business to the same lake, cutting into Red's routes. Which one is going to fly to the mining camp carrying that dangerous load of nitro?Canadian bush pilot Red North (Austin Willis), in love with school teacher Hilary Ward (Rochelle Hudson), encounters trouble when his half-brother, Paul Girard (Jack La Rue), muscles in on his territory and his girl. During their feud, Hilary's brother, Chuck Ward (Frank Perry), is killed in an air crash and she blames Red. When Paul is chosen for a dangerous mission flying nitro, Hilary volunteers to guide him. They crash and the dying Paul confesses he was the one responsible for the death of her brother.

From the Studio The son of stage actors, Pennsylvania-born Karl Brown was far more intrigued by the technical aspects of show business; while still in his teens, he became a lab assistant, then a still photographer. Brown turned director in the mid 1920s. The classic feature film 'Under The big Top' is one of his most celebrated directional ventures, in which his eye for detail is evident. THE PLOT: The Post Combined Circus draws the biggest crowd ever when pretty Penelope (Anne Nagel) does her heart-stopping blindfolded trapeze act In the course of events she falls in love with Pablo (Grant Richards) , her co-artist. Pablo and his brother Ricardo (Jack La Rue) are shown the door when Sara Post (Marjorie Main) , the tough talking owner of the show and Penny's aunt, finds out. The show goes on, but it is never the same without the daredevilry of the famous aerial trio..
