During Rita's vacation visit to Santa Margarita, her friend and host Gina Williams turns up dead after a rendezvous with a married man. Plunging herself into the murder investigation, Rita joins local cops Jack Duvall and Savannah Smith. A record of Gina's last phone call first leads them to Savannah's former boyfriend and charter boat captain, Davis Lee. Heading back to Palm Beach, Rita and Jack then question the owners of Lee's boat, State Senator Ariana Rose.
