Who doesn't love a little irony?
Former Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington, who was publicly derided and ultimately fired from the series after making a homophobic slur at gay costar T.R. Knight, is now chiming in on the show's treatment of the recently axed Brooke Smith and her lesbian character.
See what Washington had to say after the jump.

Senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions!I know Skaters and Jaters are asking about their Lost couples, but please don't ignore us Jacketeers! Is there hope for a Jack-Juliet reunion? TamunaMatt: Hope? Sure. It's just a matter of where (back on the island, I can only assume) and when (perhaps as early as this coming season, at least one source tells me). And for those fretting about Elizabeth Mitchell's future with the show, I am assured that Juliet figures very heavily into Season 5. Me, I see her and Sawyer (wet and shirtless or even dry and clothed) taking charge as Locke and his band of worshippers move forth with whatever cockamamy plan they have in mind. Can you give me any Grey's Anatomy scoop about Meredith and Derek? BryanMatt: The good news: They're together! The bad news: Do either of them have any idea what "together" means? Not really. So when the action picks back up, they'll be trying to figure out how being a mutually ...

Much to Katherine Heigl's delight, I imagine, Isaiah Washington these days is letting his money do the talking. When Howard Bragman the former Grey's Anatomy star's publicist tied the knot last week with his life partner, Chuck O'Donnell, the groom and groom asked guests to gift them with donations to Equality California, an organization committed to stopping an anti-gay marriage amendment on California's ballot this November. "He said he wishes us all the best and he supports the rights of others in our community to get married."What's your take? Washington's exit from Grey's was initiated by an anti-gay slur he allegedly directed at costar T.R. Knight. Does this wedding gesture speak to any sort of (hi, William Hurt!) change of attitude? Isaiah Washington has been booked for a guest-starring role on A&E's The Cleaner, which premieres this Tuesday at 10 pm/ET. Though details were few at first, I have since uncovered lots more on how the Grey's Anatomy alum will fit into the episode. In "The 11th Hour," Washington will play a traditional, well-schooled interventionist who crosses swords with Benjamin Bratt's title character a recovered addict who has his own "unconventional" ways of helping others when they both attempt to treat the same girl.Since parting ways with ABC's Grey's Anatomy, Washington's only TV appearance has come in the form of a mini-run on NBC's short-lived Bionic Woman. (Well, that and as a newspaper clipping on the Seattle Grace bulletin board. But let's not go there.) He also has done the occasional indie. Other guest-stars on The Cleaner will include Tate Donovan (Damages), Annabeth Gish (Brotherhood), Kathy Baker and Eric Roberts. Matt Mitovich
