Chosen because they so perfectly represent a typical American family, Gerald Webber (Jeffrey Tambor) and his wife and kids become the subjects of their own television program, moving into a new residence with cameras and microphones in every nook and cranny. The golden opportunity soon turns sour, however, when the Webber clan realizes that fame is a demanding master and that "normal" might not be good enough to keep the public asking for more.

Detroit police detective Philip Egan (C. Thomas Howell) is called a loose cannon by his boss when he refuses to ignore the abuses committed by fellow officers on the city's police force -- even as he's facing charges of sexual harassment himself. Determined to find justice for an unarmed suspect he witnessed being beaten to death, Egen battles broad corruption and suspicion. Meanwhile, a serial murderer is targeting city cops.
