America's Got Talent Contestant Gets Standing Ovation for One Direction Cover

Edon Pinchot

During Tuesday's America's Got Talent semifinals, judge Howard Stern named William Close the frontrunner, but it was 14-year-old Edon who stole the show.

The singer received a standing ovation for his rendition of One Direction's smash hit "What Makes You Beautiful." Following Edon's impassioned performance, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne were on their feet while the crowd enthusiastically chanted his name. read more

Who Are Hollywood's Highest-Paid Celebs?

Oprah Winfrey

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey topped Forbes' list of the highest-paid celebrities, raking in $165 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

Winfrey, whose earnings actually fell by $125 million from the previous year, remains at the top thanks to the final season of The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as her eponymous magazine, OWN, her spin-off shows and Sirius radio deal.

Who Earns What: TV's highest-paid stars

Coming in just behind Winfrey is movie director Michael Bay,  who earned $160 million. His Blockbuster film Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, which he earns profits on, took in a whopping $1.1 billion at the box office.

Steven Spielberg took the No. 3 spot, earning $130 million in the last year. His company DreamWorks produced Falling Skies, Terra Nova and Smash for television and the Oscar-nominated films The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse.

Who Earns What: TV's Highest Paid Stars

Mariah Carey; Matt Lauer

If Norma Desmond from Sunset Boulevard worked as a TV actress today, her famous line would be: "I am big. It's the paychecks that got small."

Networks and studios have continued to take a hard line on holding down salaries, based on TV Guide Magazine's annual survey drawn from conversations with agents, network executives and studio heads. Rare is the lead actor who can enter a new series earning more than $125,000 an episode. The exceptions are those with a ratings track record of having a major hit show (Matthew Perry) or a significant career in feature films (Kevin Bacon).

Report: Sharon Osbourne Quitting America's Got Talent Because NBC Fired Her Son

Sharon Osbourne and Jack Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne says she's quitting America's Got Talent because the network fired her son Jack from a new military-themed reality show after he disclosed that he has multiple sclerosis, the New York Post reports.

According to Osbourne, Jack was fired from Stars Earn Stripes by e-mail in June, two days before he was supposed to report to work and shortly after he publicly disclosed his MS diagnosis. But the show's producer, David Hurwitz, said at a news conference last month that, while the network had been "in talks" with Jack regarding the show since April, he had never officially been hired.

America's Got Talent: One Act Wows While Another Bleeds

William Close

Tuesday's America's Got Talent's featured some of the most notable acts from the show's Top 48, including the Judges' Choices. But with only four acts continuing on, there is some stiff competition as the contestants head into Wednesday's results show.

While Eric Dittelman may have stunned us all when he read the mind of judge Howie Mandel, there were two acts which undeniably stole the show — for better or for worse.

Best performance of the night: William Close

Playing what he claims to be the world's largest stringed instrument, a self-made "Earth Harp," Close plucked away on the massive strings, creating a hauntingly beautiful rendition of The Who's "Love, Reign o'er Me." read more
