Paget Brewster, Criminal Minds, Sandra Oh, Grey’s Anatomy and Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries

Every week, editors Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Have you heard anything about how Criminal Minds' plans to replace Paget Brewster in Season 8? — Ashley
ADAM:
I was actually on set last week and asked executive producer Erica Messer that very question. The short answer: Don't look for it to happen right away. Messer says she'd like to mimic what the show did in Season 3 when Joe Mantegna replaced departing star Mandy Patinkin a few episodes into the season. "I feel like we come back in Season 8 without Prentiss, and we're functioning just fine," she says. "But there's a void. We need that extra body. But I don't know who that character is yet." Why don't you guys help her out in the comments below?

On the Set: David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel Talk Bones Baby

Bones

Back in 2005, when a cocky FBI agent first joined forces with a bookish forensic anthropologist to solve crimes, David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel never could have envisioned their mismatched characters sharing not only a home, but also a baby, in the year 2012. But here both actors are, sitting for their first interview in Booth and Brennan's cozy new living-room set — complete with crib and stuffed animals strewn about the floor.

In an ordinary season, creator Hart Hanson says he would have fought to keep Baby Bones' birthday a surprise, but this season has been anything but ordinary. Now the show is back — but it's moving to a new night and time, Mondays at 8/7c. Thus, the long-awaited birth became more of an event... read more

Bones' Producers on the Impact of the Baby: We're Not Doing Parenthood

David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel

How will a baby change Bones? Not all that much, according to producers.

"It's still Bones," executive producer Stephen Nathan said Thursday at the Fox drama's PaleyFest event, which featured a panel moderated by TVLine's Michael Ausiello. "We don't want to give the impression that we're doing Parenthood."

While the Jeffersonian Institute shuts down for a week of vacation, Hodgins (Bones' TJ Thyne) decides to skip down to the Everglades to enlist the services of Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults). Hodgins, whose interest is piqued by the disappearance of an astronaut, hopes Walter can help him find the missing spaceman in order to prove a government cover-up of the existence of alien life.

Although Hodgins and Walter are both skeptics, that doesn't mean they'll necessarily get along. "There are two different types of paranoia: Hodgins believes in the extraterrestrial; Walter believes in the conspiracy," Stults tells TVGuide.com... read more

Behind the Scenes with The Finder

The Finder

It's more than a bit ironic that the set of Fox's new drama series The Finder is, well... so darn hard to find. That's probably because the last place anyone would expect to discover a Florida Keys dive bar would be in the middle of a chilly Los Angeles oil field. But sure enough, in a well-lit clearing at the tail end of a dusty trail of pumping derricks, the cameras are rolling on a night scene that finds stars Geoff Stults, Michael Clarke Duncan and Mercedes Masöhn throwing back beers after wrapping their characters' case of the week.

At nearly 6-foot-4 and with perpetual scruff, rugged 34-year-old Stults looks just like the kind of dude who'd work out of a bar in the middle of nowhere, or — as the watering hole is dubbed — The Ends of the Earth.

Stults plays Walter Sherman, an Iraq War veteran-turned-finder of lost people and things. Offering a tour of the set, he explains, "We have the... read more

NATALIE:
How frustrating is it to watch Sheldon and Amy fumble their way into a relationship? Have no fear: A big karmic kick in the ass is on its way. When Stuart asks Sheldon if it's OK if he asks Amy out on a date, Sheldon will be forced once and for all to define his feelings.

Bones Season 7: Can a Baby Break the Moonlighting Curse?

David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel

Ever since the demise of Moonlighting, many television writers have had one great fear: Once their show's two romantic leads sleep together, the show will lose its tension and become lifeless.

Fall Preview: Get scoop on your favorite returning shows

But Bones creator Hart Hanson — who faces that challenge as the show's seventh season premieres with Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) six months pregnant with the child of her former will-they-won't-they partner Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) — has found the opposite to be true.

"I feel like it re-energized the series," Hanson tells TVGuide.com... read more
