Oscar-winner Paul Muni ("I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang") stars in this Oscar-winning epic adaptation of the Pearl Buck classic about Chinese farmers battling the elements to survive. Co-star Luise Rainer ("The Great Ziegfeld") won an Oscar as Muni's patient wife. Nominated for Best Picture and Director.
