At the Movies: Is Jake Gyllenhaal Marvelous?

New Line is "ready to spend up to $200 million" to launch a Shazam! film franchise, with Jake Gyllenhaal playing Captain Marvel aka Billy Batson, a source tells the New York Daily News. Director Peter Segal is said to want to nab the Brokeback hunk before Sam Raimi possibly grabs him to front any Spider-Man 4.... It will be a Monster's Ball reunion — minus that craaaazy couch sex, I imagine — when Billy Bob Thornton joins Halle Berry for Tulia, about an ACLU lawyer out to expose a racially motivated rash of drug convictions in 1999 Texas. read more

Possibly the Best. Simpsons. Q&A. Ever.

The Simpsons' Comic Book Guy

Boasting a portly figure and a relentlessly critical eye, Comic Book Guy is one of Springfield's favorite sons. As the owner of the Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop, the ponytailed collector extraordinaire first appeared on The Simpsons back in 1991, tempting Bart and Millhouse with a copy of "Radioactive Man #1." For the occasion of the Fox series' 18th season premiere (airing Sunday at 8 pm/ET), TVGuide.com spoke with Comic Book Guy, if only because we lied to him that we were from Fangoria. For that fib, we say, "maH 'oH QoS," which is Klingon for, "We are sorry." TVGuide.com: Over the summer, audiences got to see two highly anticipated comic-book films in X-Men: The Last Stand and read more

Bones' Booth Gets His Sexy On

David Boreanaz, Bones

Since the very first episode of Bones, audiences have been enthralled with Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and their will-they-or-won't-they relationship. TVGuide.com got a chance to talk to Boreanaz about what's in store romantically for his character this year (the short answer: a lot!), and what he did on his summer vacation. TVGuide.com: How'd you spend your hiatus?David Boreanaz: It was kind of short, since we finished later than normal and started back on production in June. I went home to Philadelphia, then went to Mexico to kind of dissolve myself with read more

Deadwood: Up Close with Calamity Jane

Robin Weigert, Deadwood

There are many reasons to love this final full season of HBO's Deadwood (Sundays at 9 pm/ET), not least among them the continued standout performance by Robin Weigert. As the vulgar, dirt-smeared and usually plastered Calamity Jane, Weigert makes off with every scene she's in. The actress checked in from Las Vegas — where she was, appropriately, playing poker. TV Guide: You mustn't get recognized much in public. You're like night and day with Jane.Robin Weigert: I don't, and it's kind of a treat in its own way. But I suppose poker players are into Deadwood [Laughs], so there's a certain point where I'll hear, "I know you from somewhere," but they just can't place read more

Nancy O'Dell Gives Us Full Access

Nancy O'Dell

The Access Hollywood host recalls highlights from 10 years of dishing with the stars.

I’m excited to celebrate 10 years on Access Hollywood. It feels like my baby because I’ve been here since Day 1. In the beginning, I was literally doing every single interview, as I was the only reporter hired at that time. I didn’t know then that the show would be on for 10 years, so I’m proud of its success.

We’ve worked hard to build our reputation and relationships. Now, rather than having to knock down doors, people are coming to us. I was honored that Nick Lachey personally requested me when he started doing the circuit for his new album. He was the big get at the time because it was his first interview since his breakup with Jessica [Simpson]. Having gone through a divorce myself, I knew that subject could be touchy, but he was very open.

In 2002, Halle Berry gave us the exclusiv read more

Everybody Hates Chris This episode...

Everybody Hates ChrisThis episode was about my two favorite childhood things: video games and candy. Back in the '80s, I'd chug Pop Rocks as I played Pong on my Atari 800 while wearing my homemade Star Trek uniform. (Sci-fi was my third favorite thing.) Even geeks have something they're good at, and tonight we found out that Chris could kick ass at Asteroids. Now for the kids at home whose idea of video games is Halo, Grand Theft Auto or even the Teletubbies (yes, they have a game), Asteroids must have looked like it was programmed by Cro-Magnons — those little ships resemble cave paintings. Ah, how things have changed. For my generation, watching this show is like reading Proust's Remembrance of Things Past (OK, the C read more

Housewives' Woodard Tries Something New

Alfre Woodard in Something New

In the romantic comedy Something New, in theaters today, Sanaa Lathan plays an upwardly mobile African American who, despite cries of foul from friends and family, finds herself falling in love with Simon Baker's hunky landscaper. Helping the conflicted miss sort through her feelings is Desperate Housewives' Alfre Woodard, playing mom to Lathan — as she did in Love & Basketball. TVGuide.com spoke with Woodard about Something New's important message, the certain something she brings to the table, and, of course, life on Wisteria Lane. TVGuide.com: Just recently, I interviewed your Something New read more

Knots Landing Reunion: Together...

Knots Landing Reunion: Together AgainI'll say it right away: Knots Landing is my all-time favorite show. So you know I was totally looking forward to this two-hour reunion of the cast of the third-longest-running hourlong drama, which ran from '79 to '93. For the most part, I was not disappointed. What I loved: - The quick recap of all 14 seasons using several of the actors narrating was hilarious and well written. - Speaking of hilarious — shut up that Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackelford did a Wonder Woman episode right before Knots began. Joan calling Ted's costume a big "silver co read more

[Editor's Note: The Teen Choice...

[Editor's Note: The Teen Choice Awards were rebroadcast on Wednesday night on the TV Guide Channel.] I have to say right away, our TV Guide Channel kicked butt on the official red carpet two-hour preshow, and I'd state this even if I didn't work here. Kimberly Caldwell, Rosanna Tavarez and Chris Booker were awesome hosts and set the proper tone for Fox's awards show. Speaking of which…8:00 pm Gwen Stefani opens the show with her No. 1 hit "Hollaback Girl." Can I stress how much I love the original, unedited version and how much I detest the edited version? I know it's network TV, but why perform the song if it has to be edited? Sing "Rich Girl" or something else. All those "shhh" sounds go right through me. OK — got that off my chest.8:06 I said this about the MTV Movie Awards and I'll say it here. How does Andy Dick continue to get booked on these awards each year? So. Not. Funny.8:12 Jim Car read more

Lawless Snatches Halle Berry's Gig

Now that Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards have split, Hollywood wags speculate that it's only a matter of time before we'll see him with a new lady friend. Well, the wait is over!

On tonight's Two and a Half Men (9:30 pm/ET on CBS), Charlie gets hired at an advertising firm where his new boss is gay. Hoping to score points, he pretends he's gay, too, even scheming to pass off brother Alan (Jon Cryer) as his live-in boyfriend. Of course, chaos ensues when Charlie becomes enamored of his boss' sexy ex-wife — played by Xena, Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless — yet has to maintain the gay pretense to keep his job.

"I don't mind being deceived by Charlie," Lawless tells TVGuide.com. "He's cute, even as a gay man. I had a fantastic time working on that show."

Landing the gig wasn't easy, though. In the midst of her initial meeting with read more
