Francois is an ambitious young detective on the trail of a gang of notorious bank robbers. His private life is complicated but, professionally, he is going places, until his older brother, Gabriel, is released from prison. Gabriel promises to go straight and Francois allows his brother to live in his apartment while he finds him a job. But Francois adoration of his older brother quickly turns to resentment when Gabriel is convicted of murder. Francois joins the police and soon impresses his superiors, but Gabriel could once more wreck his hopes and plans. Francois Cluzet, who won a Cesar for best actor for his performance in Tell No One, co-stars as Gabriel with Guillaume Canet, who also received a Cesar for Best Director for Tell No One, as Francois. watch

Richard (DiCaprio) is a typical twenty-something American whose head is filled with an absurd amount of pop-culture and video game references. While traveling in Thailand in order to broaden his horizons and gain some real world experience, he meets Daffy (Carlyle), a crazy Englishman who gives Richard a mysterious map before committing suicide. Apparently the map leads to an idyllic island where the inhabitants live in a natural paradise. Intrigued, Richard convinces two French acquaintances, Francoise and Etienne (Ledoyen and Canet), to journey with him and see if Daffy was right. Upon reaching the island, Richard discovers that it does, in fact, appear to be the dream that Daffy had promised. They meet Sal (Swinton), a strong-willed woman and leader of the group. Sal has made a pact with the weapon-wielding drug dealers who control the island that her group can remain there provided no new bodies arrive. The tale starts with two unhappy children. Julien is endlessly energetic but unable to bear the impending heartbreak of his beloved mother's death. Sophie is wildly imaginative yet in search of someone to accept and love her. Every time they exchange a symbolic tin box (a gift to Julien from his mother), the one who takes the toy also has to take a dare. Each prank they force one another to play becomes a little bigger, a little more irreverent, a little riskier than the last. watch
