Everyone was in the house for the grand finale of American Idol, as Jordin and Blake opened the show with a long-awaited Beatles tune. "I Saw Her Standing There" was a premonition of things to come. We drifted quickly into a performance by the touring Gwen Stefani singing her song “4 in the Morning.” She looked and sounded fantastic. Red-carpet tidbits — there were lots of Idols both past and present. However, the real stars were ushered past me on the red-carpet press line at the speed of light, as though I had a form of jumping leprosy. U2 rocked Wednesday night's Grammy Awards, besting the rest with five wins (including album of the year), while Mariah Carey, snubbed in such major contests as best record, song and album, was only able to parlay her pack-leading eight nods into three trophies. Among those who miffed Mimi: Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" garnered honors for female pop vocalist, while Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" was named record of the year. 48th Annual Grammy AwardsAfter proudly watching my pals Kimberly Caldwell and Rosanna Tavarez on TV Guide Channel's Countdown to the Grammys, followed, of course, by Joan and Melissa Rivers on our Grammy red-carpet show, I made sure my roommate's VCR was taping Idol and my own VCR was set for Lost. All systems go! Time for the Grammys.8:00 pm The animated group Gorillaz open with their hit "Feel Good Inc.," and since I love the song, guess what? It makes me feel good.
