Despite his passionate efforts fighting for the rights of West Indian workers, liberal union leader Jacko (John Mills) struggles to cope with his own racial prejudice when his only daughter, Kathie (Sylvia Syms), decides to marry her black colleague, Peter (Johnny Sekka). Based on the Ted Willis play "Hot Summer Night," this working-class drama co-stars Brenda De Banzie as Jacko's wife, who staunchly opposes the marriage.
