TNT on Monday revealed its ambitious plan to change most of its weekday prime-time schedule to original fare by the year 2010. (Popular movies will still be the cabler's bread-and-butter on Fridays/weekends.) Having Jeanie Boulet (Gloria Reuben) return was a somewhat transparent plot device, but hearing that Doug and Carol are happy in Seattle (with twins in third grade, no less!) was good news. Jeer-within-a-Cheer for reminding us how today’s characters pale by comparison. Gloria Reuben (ER) plays Zack's boss, Jane Kaczmarek (the Malcolm parent currently not cooking up crystal meth) is an erratic judge (what I like to call "The Holland Taylor Role"), and all the while Mr. Belding wags his finger at that reckless young lawyer.
