Cheers to Friday Night Lights for wrapping up a controversial subplot in typically subtle fashion. When Landry killed Tyra's attacker in this season's opener, some fans cried foul, worrying such a melodramatic twist could be a proverbial jump-the-shark moment. But the ethical dilemma was achingly well-acted by Jesse Plemons, Adrianne Palicki and especially the excellent Glenn Morshower (24) as Landry's conflicted-cop father. When Landry told Tyra the police had decided not to press charges, the look of confusion in his eyes proved FNL is no over-the-top soap. Rather, it's the rare prime-time drama that takes matters of morality seriously. Read and react to Bruce's opinions on ER, Top Model and more! Hows this for irony? All last week, trying not to get too depressed about what a protracted writers strike might mean for the TV season and the industry at large, I was secretly looking forward to a weekend getaway: catching former Alias star Jennifer Garners Broadway debut in a revival of Cyrano, opposite Kevin Kline and Rescue Mes Daniel Sunjata. Unfortunately, my tickets were for Saturday night, by which time the stagehands union had initiated their own sudden walkout and work stoppage. At this rate, I might actually finish the book Ive been reading since mid-October.(Thankfully, I was lucky enough to catch Aaron Sorkin's new play, The Farnsworth Invention, before the strike. It was scheduled to have its official opening night later this week, but when it reopens, I predict a healthy run for this fascinating, entertaining play recounting the birth of television.)While consumers of TV, movies and even theater wait for unions and producers to reac...

Shall we assume that Agent Pearce ultimately whisked Martha Logan away to the Mount Airy Lodge for some good lovin'? Glenn Morshower, who played 24 fans' favoritest Secret Serviceman, is joining Friday Night Lights this season as Landry's father, a state champion Panthers alum turned local lawman. Also according to the Reporter, One Tree Hill alum Daniella Alonso is coming on board as the in-home nurse who will help Zach care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted grandmother. And yet I have to think that's not all she'll help da boy with.Related: Friday Night Lights' Langton Finds New Life.

For months, the thing about Heroes that bothered me most was Milo Ventimiglias hair: specifically, that dreaded dangling forelock Peter Petrelli kept playing with, as if in thrall to a fetish. Ive long wanted the boy to get a haircut. But not like this!Quite the horrifying climax to the March cliff-hanger (no new episodes until April 23), as Sylar pinned that dupe Mohinder to the ceiling while slicing into Peter Petrellis skull to see why Peter ticks like Sylar, only less murderously. Blood drops from Peters forehead onto the floor, followed by that hank of hair. I cringed, then I cheered. Well done. The episode was a crackerjack thrill ride with one reversal after another. Simone rising from the dead? Shut up! Its really Candice, the slinky shape-shifter! Mrs. Bennet betraying her hubby, in cahoots with The Company? Shut up! Its really Candice, the slinky shape-shifter! What fun.By the way, I love how the writers have evolved HRG from sinister man...

Question: I can't even tell you how much I'm enjoying 24 this season. It's the first season I've watched completely (mostly because Fox finally switched it to a time slot that doesn't conflict with anything else I watch), and what makes it even better is that I'm guaranteed a new episode each and every week. Has this scheduling had any effect on 24's ratings? I'd also like to say how much I love Jean Smart as First Lady Martha Logan — there's a contingent out here who think the last five minutes of the season should show her running off with loyal Secret Service Agent Aaron Pierce while President Logan whines to Novick, "Mike, what should I dooooooo?"
Answer: Oh, Lisa, you have no idea what a little hornets' nest you have stirred up. Just wait until you see tonight's (March 6) two-hour episode. There's a moment between ambush survivors Martha and Aaron that will tickle you to no end. (And let me just say that no 24 fan can afford to miss these episodes. It's a real and shocking turning
