Mega Buzz on Grey's, Housewives, CSI: Miami, Tree Hill and More!

Every week, senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich, Mickey O'Connor and Tim Molloy satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Color me shocked that Katherine Heigl isn't leaving Grey's Anatomy. Is it possible we're being duped in some way? — Krista
MATT: I must say that the lack of fanfare surrounding ABC's confirmation of Heigl's status — especially when juxtaposed with the flurry of official statements regarding T.R. Knight's departure — made me raise one of my overgrown eyebrows. "Sure, she's staying... for just one more episode," I cynically hypothesized. But one of my best sources insists that this is not a case of clever semantics, and that Heigl's Izzie will have a significant presence in the fall.

Please give me some scoop on what's next for Desperate Housewives' Bree.  — Fernando R.

"Ruby"

"Run, run, run."I doubt I could have gotten out this recap Sunday afternoon, immediately after screening this week's powerful episode of TNT's The Closer. As I said then, in a separate blogging, I was that shell-shocked, that rattled by not just the horrific crimes at the heart of the episode or by the twisted mind-set of our killer, but also by the toll the case took on Gabriel, Brenda and the PHD as a whole."Everyone pretends kids don't want sex. But they do."With that first thought from Roger's sick mind, it instantly became clear that this episode would be different. That it was not a matter of whodunit but why — and we were disgusted to hear the answers. There were no false leads or mistaken intent this week. We had our culprit, and it was just a matter of getting his confession.By any means necessary...?Lord knows, over the past two seasons we have seen Brenda Leigh pull every trick to coax an "I did it" out of a suspect's mouth. And on rare instances, we have questioned ... read more

June 18, 2007: Slashes 'N Cuts

Welcome back to Red Herring Central, aka a new season of TNT's The Closer! For any newcomers to the superb series, we are glad to have you here to break down the week's episode, twists and turns and double-backs included. You’ve chosen a real crackerjack of a show to test-drive, and you shall be rewarded for your expenditure of brain power every Monday night. For the regulars from Season 2... here, have a pastry.Let's start with a show of hands: Who thought the Wallaces' son did it? Yep, my hand is up. I know, I know, it's rare that the prime suspect proves to the be culprit in Brenda Leigh-land, but I thought for sure this was going to be a "he did it/no, he didn't/oops, yes he did" reveal. That is, until they unveiled the secret second family. You know, early on I was pondering, "The dad spends a lot of time with this unseen shrink, maybe they are one and the same?" I see now I should have stuck with that. That whole cell-phone-behind-the-wet-bar clue threw me, too. I thought,... read more
