Though she was never close to her cruel aunt, Jane returns to Gateshead Hall upon hearing the woman is on her death bed and wants to speak with her.
As Jane Eyre settles into life at Thornfield Hall, she gets to know her new employer and realizes that he's not always rude and abrupt. In fact, he's lately been bestowing kindness upon her that seem utterly out of character. Could it be love?
Now a bona fide teacher, Jane Eyre accepts her first post as a governess at Thornfield Hall, working for the wealthy Edward Rochester and serving as a tutor to his young French ward, Adele, who proves to be a willing student.
After upsetting her aunt yet again, the defiant and free-spirited Jane Eyre is sent away to Lowood , a boarding school run by a strict and unfeeling disciplinarian.
After confessing her feelings for Mr. Rochester, Jane learns that he has loved her all along, and they prepare to marry on the grounds of Thornfield Hall. But the wedding is interrupted by a lawyer who claims the ceremony can't go on.
