Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells
Too soon. We always feel that way when a season of FX's marvelously entertaining Justified comes to a close. It can't be easy sustaining that high-wire act of violent tension and wry bourbon-smooth humor, while staying true to the voice and tone of Elmore Leonard's creation of the laconic yet steely U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, but they sure make it go down easy. The fourth-season finale (Tuesday, 10/9c) is titled "Ghosts," and it's a haunted hour, all right — haunted by what-ifs, by dreams deferred and hopes crushed by the weight of bad acts and Harlan County's history of bad people — but it's also a truly badass episode when it needs to be, with fateful confrontations and crazy twists, some satisfying and others troubling.

Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha
The New Normal is American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy's first attempt at a sitcom — but not just any sitcom, a "gay sitcom" (at least according to all the various media outlets that label the series as "gay TV," "NBC's gay comedy," etc.). But while David (Justin Bartha) and Bryan's (Andrew Rannells) sexuality might establish The New Normal as progressive, the series is heavily grounded in TV storytelling tradition. Once you look past the same-sex aspect, it's easy to see how The New Normal has more in common with classic sitcoms like...

Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha
My Two Dads was never like this. Which is partly the point of NBC's The New Normal, a biting yet sweet-at-heart sitcom that bucks current network comedy trends by actually being about something — in this case, a hot-button social issue so polarizing to some that at least one affiliate (in Salt Lake City) opted not to air the ...

The New Normal
A funny thing happened on the drive home recently for The New Normal star Georgia King.
"We hadn't been paid yet and I could see my gas meter flashing empty, so I went to get it filled up and I had no money," she tells TVGuide.com. "It's surreal trying to get home on an empty gas tank and looking at billboards of your face."
Hopefully such problems will soon be a thing of the past for King, who...

The New Normal
None of the TV shows from the 2012-2013 freshman class have debuted yet, but NBC's new family comedy The New Normal already has an important distinction under its belt: It's the first new show to be boycotted.
"I was very excited than I was mentioned by first and last name in the boycott," star Andrew Rannells told reporters at NBC's Television Critics Association fall TV previews Tuesday. "It's my first boycott!"
This is not the first boycott, however, for co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy (Glee, Nip/Tuck, Popular), who acknowledged that he was not....

The New Normal
So it begins.
One Million Moms, the organization that attacked JC Penny for hiring openly gay Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson, is turning its attention to NBC's new series The New Normal. From Ryan Murphy, the series follows a gay couple — Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells and The Hangover's Justin Bartha — who try to start a family with the help of a surrogate (Georgia King).
On their website, One Million Moms accused NBC of...
