Game of Thrones' Gethin Anthony Discusses Renly's Rise, Relationships and Shaving Scene

In the War of Five Kings, Renly Baratheon appears to be the most powerful, at least on the popular front.

On HBO's Game of Thrones (Sundays, 9/8c), Gethin Anthony plays young Renly, who's become quite the charismatic young leader in the drama's second season. "He started off as a young man at court, very much a courtier, and had to go through a huge evolution into becoming a king, and not a king with an easy route to power," Anthony tells TVGuide.com. "He's had to take on a lot of responsibility. He's had to become more politically strategic with warfare and understanding armies."

Game of Thrones' Kit Harington on Jon Snow's Bloodthirst and the Weird Fixation With His Hair

Jon Snow may have given up many things -- contact with his family, the love of a good woman, a tan -- but at least he has his long, wavy hair to keep him warm.

With one season of HBO's Game of Thrones under his Night's Watch belt, Kit Harington has settled into playing the heroic bastard who's taken strict vows to defend The Wall from various northern threats for Season 2. And although he's pondered what's going on inside his character's head, the British actor doesn't quite understand what the interest is with what's growing on his head.

Special Report: How Book-to-TV Adaptations Handle Spoilers

Producers of serialized dramas hate spoilers and famously put cast and crew on lockdown to keep juicy plot points under wraps. But how do you avoid spoilers when your hit show — like Pretty Little Liars, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, Dexter, True Blood and The Secret Circle, all known for shocking twists — is based on a series of books? Your options: either mislead viewers, change up the story just a bit or take... read more

On the Set: Game of Thrones Roars Back for a Bloody Season 2

It's late October and rain is pelting the windows of a small Belfast bar. Peter Dinklage is sharing a drink with his Game of Thrones costars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kit Harington. Dinklage could use the drink. He's just come from shooting an emotional scene for Episode 8 in which his character, clever imp Tyrion Lannister, bursts into his chamber calling out for the sequestered prostitute and love-of-his-life, Shae. He doesn't see her and the thought of her possible fate shakes him to the core. His eyes search the room. His voice quavers.

It's easy to see why Dinklage won an Emmy — one of many awards snagged by the HBO drama during its freshman year...

Ask Matt: Justified, The Killing, Hunger Games (on TV?), Smash, and More

Send questions to askmatt@tvguidemagazine.com and follow me on Twitter!

Question: I'm really surprised by the lack of comment (here and elsewhere) on this season of Justified. It had a lot to live up to after that near-perfect second season and (in my opinion) has been maintaining the standard extremely well. I haven't enjoyed TV-show dialogue this much since The West Wing went off the air. read more
