Gene Roddenberry

Star Trek Greats Recall the Death of Gene Roddenberry in New Next Generation Blu-Ray

Get ready to boldly go where no man has gone before — and bring a hanky. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the fifth season of the landmark series Star Trek: The Next Generation will be released on remastered high definition Blu-ray, featuring all 26 episodes plus all-new commentary tracks, deleted scenes and a gag reel.

Also included is an all-new featurette "Requiem: A Remembrance of Star Trek: The Next Generation," in which cast members, writers and producers reflect on the passing of legendary Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Known to Trekkers as The Great Bird of the Galaxy, Roddenberry died at age 70 on Oct. 24, 1991 — midway through ST:TNG's fifth season — and that very sad day is remembered by actors Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis and producer-writers Rick Berman and Ron Moore, among many others.
