John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) and Gary Stretch (World Trade Center, Alexander) star in this epic adventure set in the Thai kingdom of Ayutthaya, a Thai kingdom that existed from 1350 to 1767. Fernando De Gama (Stretch), a Portuguese mercenary, sets sail for the Orient in a bid to find the man that murdered his father. When his ship capsizes, Fernando washes up on a tropical beach only to be captured by Arab slavers and taken to Ayutthaya where he is sold into slavery. He is rescued from slavery when a beautiful young Portuguese woman buys him from the Arabs and restores his freedom. Not surprisingly he falls for Maria, much to the chagrin of her father. Her father, as it turns out, is the man who killed Fernando's father and thus sets Fernando on a lifetime quest for revenge. When the King of Siam declares war on a Northern renegade pretender, Fernando is pressed into military service. His skill in battle gains him favor with the King who commands him to be one of his personal guards. Unbeknownst to the King, his beautiful but devious wife is plotting to kill him and place her lover on the throne. As trusted guardian of the king, Fernando must stop this plot that could lead the kingdom into war.

Trailer for The King Maker.
Based on the true story of a murderous queen, who, in 16th century Siam, plotted the murder of her husband so her lover could accede to the throne, the historical action epic The King Maker stars Gary Stretch, John Rhys-Davies and former Miss Thailand Cindy Burbridge in a swashbuckling, martial arts adventure packed with sword-wielding warriors, ninja assassins, heroic battles and political intrigue.
Seeking revenge on the man responsible for his father's death many years earlier, Portuguese mercenary Fernando De Gama (Stretch) sets sail on a warship bound for the Orient but finds himself shipwrecked, captured by Arab traders and put up for auction as a slave. He is rescued by a beautiful woman, Maria (Burbridge), who buys him back his freedom and introduces him to her father, Phillippe (Rhys-Davis), who Fernando immediately recognizes as a sinister face from his past.
Subsequently pressed into military service in support of Chairacha, King of the Ayutthaya kingdom of Siam, Fernando's courage on the battlefield and his part in thwarting an assassination attempt on the king earn him the distinguished position of royal bodyguard. But when Fernando discovers who is behind the treasonous plot, he becomes implicated in the scheme and must fight to prove his innocence before the kingdom is thrown into a state of bloody war.
