Lie to Me's Kelli Williams: Meet the New Gillian Foster

Kelli Williams, Lie to Me

Lie to Me made some behind-the-scenes changes this season, translating into on-screen changes for Kelli Williams' character, Gillian Foster.

Shawn Ryan tells the truth about reinventing Lie to Me

The 39-year-old former star of The Practice says the addition of executive producer Shawn Ryan and a focus on character-based stories has helped the series, which premiered as a midseason replacement in January. Williams says she welcomes the changes, which have opened numerous possibilities for Foster's future.

"Foster was in a much heavier place at the end of last year with her marriage falling apart," Williams says. "This season there's a little bit more levity in the office. And since I'm no longer with my husband, there are a lot of places they can take Foster."

For one thing, the writers chose to make Foster less of a stickler... read more

Terminator Scoop: The Big Death, the Friday Move, and More

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

The following story contains spoiler information about last night's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Before Season 2 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles premiered, executive producer Josh Friedman teased a big death — saying when it hit your screen, you'd certainly know it.

This reporter's money was on Agent Ellison, or perhaps Dean Winters' EMT. For some reason, never did it enter my mind that Team Connor would actually get the upper hand on Cromartie and thus terminate the terminator who has taunted them for so long.

"Cromartie kind of forced their hand," series scribe Dan Thomsen explains. "He was a good terminator and got to his prey" — and thus had to be dealt with.

Read more about the repurcussions of the death and get lots more scoop — including Friedman's take on Terminator's new midseason time slot and his dream Dollhouse crossover — after the jump. read more

Hey ER fans better late than never right Thanks for your patience while we got the blog up and running Thankfully the 13th season of our venerable Thursday-night must-see kicked off right where the finale left off with Jerry Luka Abby and Sam all in various states of peril When we last saw Sam she was being tossed into a van by Steve and his fellow prison escapee Rafe For you Six Feet Under fans Rafe was played by Michael Weston the guy who brutalized David in a similarly creepy role a few years back And Mary the ER trainee turned gun-toting accomplice was played by Natasha Gregson Wagner daughter of the late Natalie Wood Their escape resulted in Jerry being shot and Luka being paralyzed and intubated helpless to assist a bleeding unconscious Abby As a devoted fan the sloppiness of some of the writing and character development in recent seasons has been frustrating This show is at its absolute best and always has been when we are watching the day-to-day read more

The Book of Daniel There's something...

Heather Graham, Emily's Reasons Why Not

The Book of Daniel There's something about pairing Jesus with a Vicodin-popping Episcopalian priest that creates brouhaha. We expected the Bill O'Reillys of the world to complain (Someday O'Reilly is going to be driven to insanity when he awakens in the Twilight Zone surrounded by nice, sensible people), but apparently many in the Midwest found the subject matter so repellent that stations in places like Terre Haute pulled Daniel from their schedules. Another triumph for the easily offended. Normal-ites should ask a different question: Is The Book of Daniel worth checking out? I'd say it's a flawed but worthwhile experiment. Aidan Quinn makes a very human reverend, a man whose faith in God is directly proportional to the lack of faith he has in himself. D read more

How The Book of Daniel Came to Be

The Book of Daniel's Susannah Thompson, Aidan Quinn and Alison Pill

I'm pretty sure I'm still dreaming. As far as I can tell, this dream started a year and a half ago, so it's actually still June 2004, it's 3:30 in the morning, and I "wake up" with the first scene vividly playing out in my head: His daughter's been arrested. This guy (I hadn't even come up with names yet) has to go pick up his teenage daughter at a police station, way down in Riverdale, in the middle of the night. What the heck was she doing in Riverdale?! He's worried to death. He's angry. He's scared. But more than anything... he's uncomfortable. He is a WASP, after all — they don't go to police stations. And certainly not in the middle of the night! By the time he gets her and his wife home, it's dawn; they have to get ready for church. As he sits alone in his car, he reaches for the biggest obstacle in his life right now — his Vicodin. Then... Smash Cut to: the Pulpit. He's a priest! That's it. That's my way in. I finally found my way into a world that's bee read more

Book of Daniel Mixes Dope and Faith

The Book of Daniel's Garrett Dillahunt and Aidan Quinn

Aidan Quinn's Daniel Webster sees and talks to Jesus in NBC's new (and controversialThe Book of Daniel (premiering Jan. 6 at 9 pm/ET, before settling into its Fridays-at-10 time slot). Then again, maybe the good reverend is simply stoned on all the Vicodin he's taking on the sly. Or stressed out about having a gay son or a pot-dealing daughter. Yes, it's that kind of "religious" series.

But as opposed to the most obvious comparison, CBS' God-seeing Joan of Arcadia, Daniel's sit-downs with J.C. (played by Deadwood's Garret Dillahunt) aren't presented as "the grand gimmick." "If someone wants to make it the hook, they could, but I think it's very much just a by-product," Quinn tells TVGuide.com. "The read more
