Officers cleared of negligence after teen chokes herself in patrol car

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers have been cleared of negligence on the night a teenager reportedly tried to strangle herself in the back of a police car.
In December, 18-year old Tanisha Williams was arrested for shoplifting at a store on Freedom Drive.
Dash cam video from the patrol car was not released to the public, but police said it shows that Williams wrapped a seat belt around her neck. She's been in a coma ever since.
