Martin Teal, Cheers' corporate owner, proposes marriage to Rebecca, who has been fending off his advances by saying that she's in love with Sam. Her latest excuse is that she and Sam are engaged, and Sam plays along with the charade, driven by ulterior motives. Upon hearing news of the engagement, Martin offers to send Sam to his brand new resort in Mozitlan to tend bar. Without hesitation, Sam accepts the offer and Rebecca tells Martin that despite the separation, she is secure with Sam's 'love and loyalty.' Before long, Martin breaks the news to Rebecca that Sam has been continually unfaithful since he arrived in Mexico, and again offers to marry her. Unconvinced of her 'fianc 's' change of heart, Rebecca goes to Mazitlan and begs Sam to return, offering her body in exchange for his help. After sex, guilt and a gun fail to persuade Sam, Rebecca leaves Mexico and after getting drunk, accepts Martin's proposal. He instantly pulls out a ring, bouquet and justice of the peace he had kept on hold in hopes of her saying yes. Just before the ceremony, Sam returns and interrupts the proceedings. Rebecca, overjoyed to see him and positive that he has returned for her, rewards Sam with a chance at her body, then passes out.
