Excitement is in the air as Sam and the guys prepare for an all-night poker party. Before they start play, Woody feels obliged to fill his adversaries in on what could be his best-kept secret: he was the best poker player in all of Hanover. Unfortunately, the gang dismisses Woody's revelation like the rest of his hometown honors, unfazed by the thought of playing against the city's best. However, they soon change their minds when Woody wins and gleefully takes all their money. While losing to Woody, Sam places Rebecca in charge of the bar for the duration of the poker game. Anxious to have Sam re-appoint her as manager, Rebecca's determined to prove she's responsible. However, while at the bar, she notices a letter she mailed the previous week has been returned for insufficient postage--and is shocked to discover that letter contains Cheers' liquor license renewal. Realizing that the bar is currently operating illegally, Rebecca immediately calls the state liquor commission, only to learn that nothing can be done until a hearing at noon the following day. Until then, no alcohol can be sold at Cheers. So Rebecca enlists Carla, Lilith and Paul to keep the secret quiet, plying the patrons with non-alcoholic libations. She's nearly successful, until John Allen Hill (guest star Keene Curtis) shows up with two liquor control agents, bent on closing Cheers forever. watch
