Born as Raymond Guion in New York in 1908, Gene Raymond is better known for his acting abilities, having been cast in 35 films before this one. It was towards the end of long screen career that Gene decided to try his hand at producing and directing movies. The classic adventure film Million Dollar Weekend was the first he directed and also starred in. THE PLOT: Tired and disgusted with his life behind the desk, Nicholas Lawrence (Gene Raymond) decides to get away from his drab life with a million dollars in security bonds, stolen from his office. On the flight to Hawaii, he bumps into the charming, Cynthia Strong (Stephanie Paull) , a damsel in distress, who is being blackmailed by Alan Marker (Francis Lederer) for having murdered her husband, Cynthia urges Nicholas to protect her.
