Weekend TV: LEGO My Simpsons, Resurrection Finale

Oh, snap! After 25 seasons, Fox's The Simpsons can still seem as fresh and inventive as when we first met this merrily mutant family — especially when the show raises its game as it does for this weekend's milestone 550th (!) episode (Sunday, 8/7c), a fantastical collaboration with LEGO in which all the elements of visuals, story and jokes click into place with spectacular results.

Weekend TV: Dream Builders, Resurrection, Girls Finale

In what initially comes off as a Habitat for Inhumanity — fueled by reality-competition juices that upstage the do-gooder impulse of neighborhood home renovation — NBC's derivative American Dream Builders takes its visual cues from Extreme Makeover Home Edition (airing in that show's old time period, Sundays at 8/7c), complete with an elaborate weekly reveal, although the only bus here is the one the contestants repeatedly throw each other under. Dream Builders' emotional dynamic is more attuned to Celebrity Apprentice in its nightmare blueprint of clashing egos getting in the way of a job well done.

Question: There have been quite a few resurrections from the TV graveyard as of late and I must say I love it, way more than Hollywood's obsession of making a sequel out of everything as well as making too-soon remakes. Firefly and Veronica Mars both have movie continuations, Dallas and Boy Meets World have spawned new series chronicling the next generation (I know you're not too big a fan of the new Dallas, but I have to say I welcome the return of Judith Light to the series), Netflix brought back Arrested Development for a fourth season, and Heroes is coming out with Heroes: Reborn next year. So I'm wondering what are your thoughts on this phenomenon, and are there any shows that you feel should be next in this craze.

Weekend TV Review: Bountiful, Resurrection, Cosmos

Just try telling Carrie Watts that you can't go home again. This elderly Texan, determined to make her way back to a town that time and everyone but she has forgot, bristles with restless gumption, fueled by an indomitable spirit that erupts in hymns she can't stop humming — or singing, as in a memorable scene set in a deserted bus station after midnight.

On Broadway, where Cicely Tyson won a Tony Award last year for her luminous performance as Carrie in a revival of The Trip to Bountiful, audiences often joined in as she sang "Blessed Assurance" in the play's rapturous high point. And for a moment, in Lifetime's languid movie adaptation (Saturday, 8/7c), you might find your own living room transformed into a choir loft.

Resurrection Bosses: The Dead's Return Is Not About "Why," But "What If?"

ABC's Resurrection sees dead people come alive again, but it's not related to The Returned. Except it is.

The drama, which premieres Sunday at 9/8c, is based on Jason Mott's best-selling book The Returned about people who come back from the dead. That's not to be confused with the critically acclaimed, similarly themed French series on Sundance Channel, The Returned, which is based on the French film Les Revenants and is being adapted by Lost's Carlton Cuse for A&E, or the fact that Resurrection refers to its walking dead as The Returned.

Winter TV: Must-watch new shows

"It is kind of confusing, we'll admit that," Resurrection executive producer Michele Fazekas tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. "But even though the premise is the same, I think we all have different takes on it and different stories."

Set in Arcadia, Mo., Resurrection follows Jacob (Landon Gimenez), a dead 8-year-old boy who wakes up in a rice paddy field in rural China. With the help of immigration ...

Question: Justified is the very best cable has to offer. It is well written and the actors seem to have been born to play those characters. I cannot believe how you can love and hate a person at the same time, but with Boyd (Walton Goggins), that is the way it is. Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) is the good/bad guy that women want to love and men want to kill or the very least knock out! Please tell me that Art (Nick Searcy) and Raylan are going to end as friends. Raylan and Art were more than friends by the second season and I would hate to think Art would distance himself from Raylan because he did not intervene when Nicky Augustine got his just desserts! — Ann

Castle Boss Talks Beckett's "Cold Feet" and the New Wedding Date

[WARNING: The following story contains spoilers from Monday's episode of Castle. Read at your own risk.]

On Monday's episode of CastleBeckett and Castle took some big steps forward in their wedding planning — but not without a few speed bumps.

Resurrection Bosses on Similarities to The Returned and Why It's Not a Sci-Fi Show

ABC's Resurrection is not related to or a rip-off of The Returned, but it is adapted from The Returned. Confused yet?

The midseason drama is based on Jason Motts' book The Returned and follows a dead 8-year-old boy Jacob (Landon Gimenez) who wakes up more than three decades later. Its back-from-the-dead premise is not unlike that of the critically acclaimed French series The Returned, which aired on the Sundance Channel, and the show's executive producers made sure to steer clear of it.

ABC announces a Thor-S.H.I.E.L.D. crossover, confirms casting for Agent Carter

"I have never seen The Returned," Michele Fazekas said Friday at ...
